Smeg 50s-style retro flueless gas fire

Smeg_fire

Smeg has colonised your kitchen, so it’s no surprise to see the company moving into the rest of your home with appliances like this Smeg 50s-style retro flueless gas fire.

Ideal if you’ve got that open plan living thing going on, the fire matches up with the rest of your appliances and with no chimney required, it can go pretty much anywhere.  Flueless fires also convert 100% of gas to heat, which should help on the gas bill too.

They retail officially for £999, but we’ve seen them discounted down to £750.

Fred Perry starts half price New Year sale

Perry_sale
Like many other retailers, Fred Perry is kicking off its Christmas sale early – with most of the discounts already available online and in its stores.

The discounts are said to be up to 50 per cent, although most seem nearer a third – with most of the existing stock getting a hefty chunk off the price tags. And as well as clothes, there’s also a markdown of accessories, including this rather smart retro green and cream holdall, with both handles and straps, vintage laurel motif and two large pockets.

You can bag this now for £28.

DangerMouse fancy dress costume

Dangermouse_2
We’re deep into the Christmas/New Year party season and if you’re after a costume, why not go as a cult 80s cartoon character?

This DangerMouse costume is a gem and guaranteed to get you noticed amongst the pirates and the Blues Brothers. Although the white might be a bit of a risk if the drink starts flowing. Another downside is the lack of a matching Penfold costume – especially if you’re going in a pair.

But if you’re on your own, you can pick up the suit (which also includes the belt, boot-tops and padded gloves) for £29.99. The head is sold separately for £22.99.

The epitome of space age design – the Verner Panton Amoebe chair.

Originally produced for Verner Panton’s Visiona installation in 1970, this official reissue offers even more comfort with a flexible backrest – although even without it, you’d probably sink into this futuristic foam seat for hours.

Available in eight colours of Tonus 3 fabric (90% virgin wool, 10% helanca), you can order one online for £728.

Atari 2600 controller candle holder

Atari_candle
Candles are very seasonal right now – although this Atari 2600 controller candle holder is unlikely to appear on your mum’s mantelpiece.

Shaped like the base iconic games controller from Atari’s must-have console of the early 80s, it holds your candle – which uncannily looks like the stick.

I’m not sure what this is made of – but with a price of £50, I sense ceramic rather than plastic.
