Gola 40th anniversary Harrier trainers

Gola_harrier
In 1968, the Gola Harrier trainer was designed by Fred Dilley as an all-rounder for virtually any sport. And with 2008 approaching, Gola has reissued the Harrier in a special 40th anniversary edition.

Originally available in just white and green, it went on to be released in 200 colour combintations and a few style changes. The 40th anniversary shoe will be faithful to the original design and in the colours you can see in the image – for both men and women. And to add that special touch, they will be sold in the original box design, each containing a leaflet about the shoe.

The shoes retail for £45.

Spaceage_ex
Coming to the V&A Museum of Childhood at the end of November is Space Age: Exploration, Design And Popular Culture – a celebration of the space age to coincide with Sputnik’s 50th birthday.

The exhibition explores the influence that the space race had on pop culture, encompassing music, design, fashion, literature, toys and childhood fantasy. There will be over 300 objects on display including a real Martian meteorite, an original Cosmonaut Suit, a symbolic 1960s mini dress by Leonard Joseph, the 1967 Pastilli Chair and many iconic toys including the 1960s Marx’s clockwork Moon Creatures.

The exhibition will run at the V&A Museum of Childhood from 24th November 2007 – 6th April 2008 before touring museums and galleries around the UK.

Stuck On You – kitchen hooks like traditional saucepans

Saucepan_coathooks

We love our quirky design – and these Stuck On You kitchen hooks are some of the best we have see in a long time.

Looking like a traditional saucepan, these semi-pans are made of steel with a lacquer finish in red, white or black and are ideal for hanging up your tea towels or kitchen utensils. Although you might need a wide kitchen to hang them – they’re 22cm from wall to the end of the handle.

Each hook retails for £38.95.

Retro Radar bedding set

Retroradar
Looking to add a splash of colour to your bedroom? You’ll get more than a splash with this Retro Radar bedding set.

In a camel and red colour scheme, it’s a seven-piece set, including covers for things I’ve never even heard of – pillow cases. fitted sheet, flat sheet I get, but I’m not sure what a comforter or shams are!

Anyway, if you do and you need them, you’ll be pleased to know these are reversible too and are available to order online for $99.99, which is around £50. The price might vary for different-sized beds.

Targus CityLite Retro II laptop bag

Targus_retro
A couple of months back we featured the Targus CityLite bag and its op art looks. Well, there’s a new version on the market – the Targus CityLite Retro II laptop bag.

And there’s not much change apart from the design, with the op art circles ditched for a much smarter and stylish (for me anyway) retro-style check. On a more practical side, there’s room for a notebook up to 14.1 inches, padding for its safety and a detachable pouch for bits and pieces. There’s also a choice of handle or strap for carrying.

Expect to see it in the shops in the coming weeks, again priced around that £20 mark.

Qora & Shai’s Something For Cat print

Qora_cat
We covered Qora & Shai’s Arabesque print earlier in the week, but didn’t mention the other eye-catching piece of artwork in their new collection – Something For Cat.

This 60s-style artwork has that Shag-style cat again (although the look probably pre-dates him too), along with a smart space age chair, light fitting and some bold colours. In fact, it’s available in two strong colour schemes, both printed onto canvas, then stretched onto a wood frame.

It’s ready for hanging and treated to protect from the sunlight. A 32 x 32 inch print retails for 140 Euros and a 40 x 40 inch sells for 180 Euros.
