Zzzidt – table like a Space Hopper

Zzidt_2
Turn a Space Hopper on its side, then chop a bit off the top. What do you get? Something that looks like the Zzzidt.

It was designed by Richard Hutten for the Centraal Museum in Utrecht or more specifically, for use outside the museum. Also featured is a handle to drag it where you want it (and for holding a glass) and the option to use it as a seat.

It’s coming soon to Purves & Purves, with a price of £95.

Sex Pistols coasters

Pistols_coasters
There’s nothing very rebellious about a cup of tea, but you could add a spot of anarchy with these Sex Pistols coasters.

Yes, from frightening local councillors to saving your best coffee table in 30 years. There’s four coasters in the set, each featuring an image from a Sex Pistols release. They might still frighten your Gran, but they’ll also add a smart twist to something that’s usually very mundane.

A set retails for £7.99. And if you prefer The Clash, there’s a set for that band too.

eBay Watch: Mangiadischi Penny portable record player

Penny_record

Forget the iPod, the coolest portable audio player around is the Mangiadischi Penny portable record player.

Dating back to around 1970, this Italian-made player spins your 45s and plays them via the built-in speaker, with power from mains or battery. Clever stuff too – just slip in your single and it plays automatically, no matter what the size of hole in your record. And when you are finished, just press the eject (which is located next to the volume control).

Available in a range of bright colours, this one is currently selling for £26.70 – with many others also available around this price.
