BMW launches Mini Clubman – the luggage-friendly Mini

Mini_clubman

Following in the tradition of the original Mini, BMW has launched a luggage-friendly version of the car under the previously-used Mini Clubman name.

It hits the UK on November 10th, with a choice of three models and allsorts of colour combinations, all packing a vertically split tailgate, a single rear-hinged door and of course, more length along with more legroom in the back compared to the standard Mini. The boot has 260 litres of luggage space, increasing to 930 litres when the seats are flattened, while the engines are claimed to be cleaner and quicker than previous Mini engines and the suspension is a little bit firmer.

Prices have also been announced – the Cooper Clubman costs £14,235, the Cooper D is £15,400 and the Cooper S is £17,210. That’s just over £1,000 more than the standard Mini for each model.

Georg Jensen Mosaic cufflinks

Jense_mosaic
I’m a fan of Georg Jensen designs – stylish and minimalist, they’re almost timeless and certainly a good investment. But these Georg Jensen Mosaic cufflinks by Magnus Steffensen break that mould a little.

Yes, there’s a splash of colour, creating a retro-style design that’s a little bit op art or indeed, a little bit like a mosaic tile or table. The cufflinks are made from sterling silver with an enamel design in a range of colours.

And of course, they’re not cheap, with prices around the £175 mark. Then again, everyone needs at least one pair of good cufflinks.

Lyle & Scott Plackett polo shirts

Lyle_plackett

Lyle & Scott is still pumping out its old designs as part of the Vintage range – and they’re still selling in large amounts. The latest to hit the shelves are these Lyle & Scott Plackett polo shirts.

It’s a strange design – not quite a shirt, not quite a polo – almost like a halfway house of the two with six-butto plackett, two front pockets, shot sleeves and the vintage gold eagle logo on the chest.

Available in a variety of colour schemes, they sell for £45.

Hip Haven retro Bullet Planters

Bullet_planter
There’s some really nice items at the newly-launched Vitamin Design Shop – but these retro Bullet Planters from Hip Haven have really caught our eye.

Available in a whole range of colours, each one is made of compression-moulded fibreglass, with a steel powder-coated tripod base. And they’re good for holding your plants and flowers both indoors and out.

Three sizes are available, the smallest of which is 16 inches tall and 15.75 inches wide. Prices start at $150 (around £75), rising slightly for larger items.

Super Sunglasses – hip retro eyewear

Super_retro

Just about the most hip eyewear of the moment are Super Sunglasses, created by Pig Magazine’s Sean Beolchini – if you can find a pair.

They’re selling out almost as fast as they’re made, despite looking not all that different to Wayfarers. The secret is the colour range – with allsorts of unusual combinations, including some nice two tone schemes and a transparent pair.

Just about the only place you can get them online right now is Caliroots, where a pair of the sought-after unisex specs will set you back around £65.
