Marimekko 1970s Olkalaukku bag

Marimekko_classic

When a bag has been on the market for 37 years, you get the feeling it’s doing something right – and that’s the case with the Marimekko Olkalaukku bag.

It was designed back in 1971 by Ristomatti Ratia and if the design looks over-familiar, that might give you an idea of just how influential it is. Nothing out of the ordinary here – a large storage area, smaller zipped pocket and adjustable strap in a choice of bright colours. But if you need an everyday bag for work or college, this is just about perfect.

Yours for around £70.

Levis Vintage Oldest Oldest Celebration Pack – jeans, t-shirt and bag from 1875

Levis_old

Not just retro, the clothes in the Levis Vintage Oldest Oldest Celebration Pack are positively vintage, dating back to circa 1875.

The jeans are a copy of the newest addition to the Levi Strauss archives, a pair of work denims discovered in a Nevada mining town, made with 9-ounce denim and packing shank buttons, patented rivets and four pockets. But that’s not all – there’s also a long body undershirt of the day and a weather canvas rucksack, again authentic to the time.

All of that comes at a price – £429 to be precise.

Top of the Pops Bag

Ot0158

Design for Delight currently have this Top of the Pops Bag in their stock, for sale or to hire (should you ever need to rent such a thing).

Measuring 33cm x 33cm x 10cm, it is made from transparent plastic with a vintage record sleeve inserted on both sides. The record sleeve is for a Top of the Pops album. The woman pictured on the sleeve looks rather like Kate Moss, but is obviously some earlier incarnation as the estimated date is put somewhere between 1960 and 1970

It costs just over Euros 20 (plus taxes) to buy from Design for Delight.
