Anya Hindmarch I’m not a plastic bag

Anyahindmarchplastic
It’s good to do your bit for the environment, and even better when you can ease your guilty conscience by buying a fabulous bag. This Anya Hindmarch I’m not a plastic bag tote has been a sell out success, and provides a fashionable way to carry your shopping.

The retro styled tote in cotton and cream was available for pre-order on the Anya Hindmarch website, but due to the high demand has now sold out.

However the reason we are featuring it now, is not only because it looks cool, and we approve of it’s ethical and environemental stance, but because there is still chance to get one. The remaining 20,000 are to go on sale in Sainsbury’s stores nationwide from the 25th of April. So make sure you get yours on your shopping trip next week.

Retro Trabant sports bags

Trabant_bags

Big thanks to Fabrizia for pointing us in the direction of the Logoshirt site in Germany, which is packed full of retro designs, including these rather smart retro Trabant sports bags.

The Trabant (if you didn’t know) was a small East German-made car, which has become something of a cult item in recent years, after many more years of being a joke. The bag uses the original logo on a typical vintage-style sports bag in a choice of colour.

They sell for around 25 Euros, which is about £16, along with postage to your country.

Retro Cassette tote bag

Cassette_bag
Continuing with our fascination with all tape-based items, we now present this rather impressive Retro Cassette tote bag.

It’s made of plastic, with a full-colour design that’s every bit the vintage cassette – only much bigger. And just to add to the detail, the handle even looks like unraveling tape. And it’s big enough to carry just about everything you’ll need when you’re out and about.

Details of the bag are available at the Fred & Friends website – with the exception of the price. You’ll have to check with your local supplier of their products (available on the site) for that.

Orla Kiely vinyl weekend bag

Orla_weekend
Orla Kiely is no stranger to these pages – and for good reason. She’s always reliable for some stylish retro-inspired designs. And this new season is no different – we’re currently loving this Orla Kiely small vinyl weekend bag.

It’s probably the vinyl that gives it that retro look, along with the choice of colours in the range (there’s a brown and a white alongside the red featured here). There’s also a car print lining, three studded exterior pockets, inside zip and mobile pockets and a key chain.

If all that appeals, you can pick one up now, priced at £175.

Dune Gingham silk clutch bag

Ginghambag
We’ve featured some 70s inspired bags recently, but now for one with more of a lady-like feel. This cute Gingham silk clutch bag from Dune would go with any of the 50s-inspired tulip dresses in the shops at the moment.

It comes in either the blue and white featured, or equally fetching black and white. It has a fabric body with metallic frame and clasp. It’s £55 which seems quite expensive, but that’s probably because it is silk.

The gingham pattern is usually more familiar on shirts or items of clothing, but on a bag it gives the traditional clutch style a new retro twist.
