Pinch Pendel sofa

Pendalsofa
Another piece from Pinch Design to lust after: the Pendel sofa. It’s a neat little two seater, designed to fit into a compact space and its curves recall the designs of someone like Finn Juhl. However, it’s been freshened up for the twenty-first century by the beautiful wildflower print upholstery.

The Pinch website suggests it could be used in a hallway or in a bay window. I hadn’t considered I needed a sofa in either of those spaces until now, but now I’ve seen it, I know I won’t feel satisfied until I do! I had better start counting my pennies however, as the sofa costs £2295.

1960s-style Glove armchair by Conran

Glovechair

A modern design, but there's a definite 60s space age look to this Glove armchair, the work of Content by Conran.

It's very much the 'Bond Villain' armchair, with a white moulded fibreglass shell, soft leather upholstered seating and a spun steel base with swivel and tilt mechanism.

If you fancy it, you're in luck as the Glove armchair is currently in the Conran sale. Saying that, it's still fairly high priced at £1,756.

LCD write your own message greeting cards

Lcd card 2

Okay, so the LCD style message show on the card above isn't too appropriate to this time of year but as it is a 'write your own message' greeting card you can make it say whatever you want it to say. It is bought as a blank card with an embossed LCD grid for you to write over and produce your own eighties looking message. A copy of the alphabet is even supplied with the card so you know exactly what line should go where.

The card is created by the Yellow Owl workshop who sell the cards individually for $4.50 or as a set of five for $18. As they are an American company you may think twice about whether the shipping fees make it worthwhile ($9.50 for a single card) but it remains a great idea. Available to buy in shops in US is wrapping paper printed with the same grid which you can see beneath the card in the image.

Barbapapa pouffe by Marie Leblon

Barb

When it comes to novelty seating, it does get much more leftfield than the Barbapapa pouffe by Marie Leblon.

Produced by Leblon-Delienne, buying one actually involves picking up two items – firstly the actual pouffe, then a cover of the 1970s cartoon character in the colour of your choice, including the blue one above. We suspect it's not convenient chair to sit in, but if you want a talking point (or something that hte kids will love), it's got to be a winner.

The white support for it costs around £72, with the Barbapapa exterior selling for around £29.50.

Tobias Grau space age Project X light

Grau light

Though it's a contemporary number, Tobias Grau’s Project X light has a design that looks so space age
it could almost be a UFO! I imagine it will also look pretty interesting when switched on: the bottom of this height adjustable light is made from opal glass while the top is made from transparent glass that can be left clear or coloured red or blue. To top off the sleek look, the main body is made from polished aluminium.

The light costs 593 euros from the Tobias Grau website.
