Rivvo Telephone Box Wine Cabinet

Phone_wine
A classic piece of design re-invented – as the Rivvo Telephone Box Wine Cabinet.

It’s not an original telephone box, it’s a replica – although it does stand almost as tall at just over 6ft. Features include space for 24 bottles of wine using a drawer arrangement, a pull-out shelf, back mirror and overhead storage for wine glasses. There’s even built-in lighting in case you need a drink late at night.

All of that obviously comes at a price – and that price is £499.

Zanotta Sacco – bag a 1960s classic

Sacco
The bean bag might not seem obviously 60s, but the Zanotta Sacco dates back to 1968 – which means it is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Designed by  Cesare Paolini, Piero Gatti and Franco Teodoro, the Sacco was the first mass-produced bean bag chair, packed full of polystyrene pellets and shaped to offer overall comfort, as well as some support for our head and neck. And it’s still available today, looking every bit the modern piece of design with a range of new colours to chose from.

You can pick one up for £373.50.

Verner Panton Topan pendant light

Panton_topan
Sometimes the most stylish objects are the most simple – and that certainly applies to the Verner Panton Topan pendant light.

Designed in 1960 and available in black or white, the Topan is a lacquered aluminium casing with a lengthy amount of cable for hanging in all room heights. And that’s about it – minimalism at its best.

If that sounds ideal for your living room, you can pick one up online for £106.87.

Rain parade 1920s-fashion mini umbrellas

Rainparade

Fans of the Avengers might recall those 1920s ceramic heads that sat in Steed’s living room – and similar heads can be found on top of these Rain Parade mini umbrellas.

Part novelty, part functional item, this is an everyday umbrella you can stick in your bag or protection from a shower. But would you really want to hide something like this away? Especially when the wrapped-up umbrella has boots, that head and a covering that doubles up as clothing for the ‘doll’.

The four above are all available, all selling for $30 (around £15).

Frederic Collette A table and chairs – art deco design for kids

Achair

The rooms that are often ignored when it comes to design are the children’s bedrooms. Which is a shame when there is cool design likes the Frederic Collette A table and chairs around.

Designed by Collette and produced by Collect Furniture, the A table and chairs are intended to be functional furniture for children, but with an art deco look that’s certain to appeal to design-conscious parents. Practical too – the ‘A’ shape increases stability, preventing it from being tilted or tipped over, with the table featuring six drawers and room for two children to work at (either side) and of course, built to a perfect height for the stackable chairs (which also feature a drawer).

The table retails for £205, with the chairs retailing at £105 each.
