Recycled vinyl LP books

Recordbook
Personally I use my vinyl for its prime purpose – playing – but there’s an awful lot of surplus LPs around, with these recycled vinyl LP books the latest way of getting that mountain down.

Useful things too – 90 blank pages for your sketches and notes, as well as a couple of pockets for your pens and notes. And when the paper has been filled, you can use standard sheets from any stationers to sit between your records.

Available online, you can pick one up for $28 (around £14).

Max the Bathtube Chaise

Max_1_2
She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh.
I told her I didn’t and crawled off to sleep in the bath.

So sang John Lennon on Norwegian Wood. Could this have been the inspiration for Reestore on their latest product Max the bathtub chaise?

This chaise longue is (as you can probably tell from the photograph) a vintage roll top bath remodelled to form a chaise longue apparently like one featured in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Is this taking recycling a step too far or is it an innovative style statement? I haven’t quite made up my mind yet.

If you think you’d like one of these in your home, it costs £875 and be ordered from the Reestore website.

Going for the Space 1999 look in your living room? You need to add this Home Sweet Home space age pod sofa from Cous to your shopping list.

Designed by Uli Schmid and Christian Olufemi, the pod consists of a HDF coated and varnished exterior, with a PU-foam interior covered in a removable leather for easy cleaning.

A stunning piece of design, although whether it’s actually affordable isn’t clear. The sofa is for sale via Architronic and if you want one, you’ll have to request a price.

Superman clothes hanger

Super
If you’re short of somewhere to store your red underpants, you probably need a Superman clothes hanger.

It’s the work of Roman Ficek, who is part of the Comunistar group of new Slovakian designers. In fact, it’s such a great-looking piece of design, it’s a shame you’ll have to hide it away in your wardrobe.

No price is given on the website, just an instruction to ‘call for pricing’. If you do given them a call, let us know.

Ingo Maurer Campbells Soup Can ceiling light

Campbells_light
You might have some pop art hanging on your living room wall, but I’m guessing you don’t have any hanging from the ceiling. That could change if you pick up the Canned Light by Ingo Maurer.

Using that iconic soup image, Christoph Matthias and Hagen Sczech have created a light from tin, aluminium and stainless steel, able to hold a 60w bulb and with enough cord to hang from the highest ceiling. It also comes in a rather cool Campbells-themed box.

If you want one, you can pick one up online from Icone, priced at £143.

Villalescatole Birch Side Table

Bf248This Birch Side Table bears an uncanny resemblance to the Componibili Storage Unit featured not so long ago. It has the same sleek curves, just fashioned out of wood. These aren’t made by Kartell , but by Villalescatole whose designer Naoko Shintani certainly owes a debt to Anna Castellis Ferrieri.

Anyway, it is still a good looking piece of furniture and being made from wood, it will perhaps fit better in bedrooms as a bedside table than the original metal Componibili units.

Details can be found on the Villalescatole website or you can buy it from Bodie and Fou for around £160.
