Plusharoid – vintage Polaroid camera-shaped chair

Polaroid_chair

I’ve seen some great chair designs of late, but I don’t think anything has caught my eye as much as the Plusharoid.

Yes, this is a chair shaped like an old Polaroid camera (the SX-70 to be precise). You know, the camera that gave you instant photos long before digital photography was introduced. It’s made by Monocol in the US and is apparently sized at 12 x 12 x 16 inches. But you might want to check that – because it doesn’t quite seem big enough to park yourself on.

Available online via Monocol’s Etsy site, it retails for $60 (around £30).

Montblanc Marlene Dietrich Commemoration Edition pen

Dietrick_pen
How many of you own a fountain pen? Not many I’d wager – but if you want to get back to some ‘real’ writing, you could do it in style with this Montblanc Marlene Dietrich Commemoration Edition pen.

Just launched and just 1,901 in existence, the pen is dedicated to actress/singer Marlene Dietrich, with a body and cap designed to simulate a feminine silhouette, a cap and barrel made of 925 Sterling Silver with fine barley guilloche and mother-of-pearl inlays at the top and bottom and a clip with dark blue sapphire and 6 diamonds.

There’s also a cap ring studded with 16 diamonds, a signature of Marlene Dietrich engraved on the barrel and a platinum-plated 18K gold nib. Price on application – but I’m guessing it isn’t going to be anywhere near cheap.

70th anniversary Giant Anglepoise 1227 Lamp

Giant_anglepoise
It’s 70 years since the introduction of the original 1227 Anglepoise Lamp, so to celebrate, the company has produced a limited edition Giant Anglepoise 1227 Lamp.

Handmade in England, it is three times the size of the original, but does come on wheels to make it easier to move around. And it also has a lockable position for added safety and a dimmer if it all gets a bit bright.

Available in black, it retails for £1,660.

Block table lighter

Block_lighter

Smoking isn’t all that fashionable right now – but there’s still some seriously stylish lighters around. And none more so than this Block table lighter.

Yes, it’s one of those chunky lighters you might have seen on coffee tables and desks in the 60s and 70s. You probably don’t see many now, but if you ever need a light for anything – even if it’s just for your candles – this will be available. And when you don’t use it, the lighter is still a smart thing to have around.

Available online – it retails for £25.

eBay Watch: Guzzini Ball picnic set

Guzzini_picnic
The weather is improving, so maybe a few picnics later this summer isn’t out of the question. And this Guzzini Ball picnic set on eBay could be worth picking up.

It’s a great piece of 70 space age and comes complete with six large plates, six medium plates, six bowls, six cups, salt and pepper containers and a spare container. So if you have five friends, it’s ideal.

It’s currently at the opening price if £9.99 – I suspect it will not be at that price at the auction end.

Meditation Mushroom Stool

Mushstool
I love the 70s-inspired design of this Meditation Mushroom Stool – but I can’t work out what I could do with it.

Is it really for meditation? Or is it just an occasional seat? I think it’s the latter, but even if you just had it sat around in the house, it would ooze cool.

Available in the typical 70s colour schemes of orange or brown, the swivel base stands at 9.5 inches, the seat a further 7.5 inches and it retails for $100 (around £50).
