Laura Ashley retro Darwin chair

Ashley_darwin
I still associate Laura Ashley with that ‘grandma’ look, but if you dig enough, they do have the odd item worthy of consideration, the latest of which is this Laura Ashley retro Darwin chair.

It’s a really attractive chair, ideal if you’re going for a 50s vibe, with its curved wooden arms and retro-styled upholstery. It looks like a dream to sink into too.

It’s due in stores next month, although you can order online now, with a lead time of around 1 weeks. Not cheap though – £446.25.

Hip Haven retro Bullet Planters

Bullet_planter
There’s some really nice items at the newly-launched Vitamin Design Shop – but these retro Bullet Planters from Hip Haven have really caught our eye.

Available in a whole range of colours, each one is made of compression-moulded fibreglass, with a steel powder-coated tripod base. And they’re good for holding your plants and flowers both indoors and out.

Three sizes are available, the smallest of which is 16 inches tall and 15.75 inches wide. Prices start at $150 (around £75), rising slightly for larger items.

Charlie Adam – mid-century artwork and design

Melamine_tray

Big thanks to Heather for flagging up the superb mid-century artwork of Charlie Adam, which can be found at the Bungalow Graphics website.

The artist is a Brazilian, currently living in Chamonix in France – but you don’t have to go that far to buy the art, you can pick it up online. There’s a number of themed galleries on the site, including Alp Chic, Jazz a Gogo and Tiki Exotica, with prints available on MDF, signed and ready to hang. And there’s also postcards, t-shirts and homeware – which includes this rather cool melamine tray, available online for 15 Euros including postage.

If you like that, check out all the artwork and designs at the site.

Surface View and Wayne Hemingway produce retro pop culture murals

Hemingway_installation

Looking for a large feature for your home, business or club? Check out the retro pop culture murals from Surface View.

The murals are based on classic images housed on Wayne Hemingway’s and Stella Mitchell’s Land of Lost Content British Cultural memorabilia site, including everything from vintage postcards and book covers to vintage and kitsch artwork, including the Vladimir Tretchikoff image above.

Surface View has digitally re-mastered the images into high resolution files enabling the pictures to be cropped and enlarged for a suitable mural size. And they can also be tweaked by a change of colour if you require.

If you’re interested, contact Surface View for a price and an idea of range.

Chroma_target
These Chroma cushions from Eleven Twenty Five are a nice twist on the traditional target design.

The image is actually the work of artist Miller Updegraff and pitched as ideal for a children’s room – or indeed any room that needs brightening up. Each is made of 10oz bull denim and with the cover removable.

Diferent colour schemes are available, which you can check out at the website, with each of the large cushions retailing at $170 (around £85).
