Meet David Bailey at the Olympus EP-1 camera launch in London

Ep1_1

To say we were blown away by the Olympus EP-1 Micro Four Thirds camera is an understatement, a mix of high-end technology and old school looks, it's the camera we really want to own this summer. If you want to get up close and personal with one, you can do so at Jessops in central London – and meet David Bailey as an added incentive.

Some versions of the retro-styled camera will be on sale on the night, while others can be pre-ordered so you get one as soon as they land. If you do pre-order, Jessops is apparently giving away a free 'Cross' pen to the first 50. we've no idea what that is but it's apparently worth £300. And of course, you can get tips off the coolest photographer in the history of the world too.

If you can't get to the Jessops New Oxford Street branch on 25th June at 6pm, the full range of EP-1 cameras has just gone online, you can check them out (and prices) via the link below. Alternatively, see over the page for the classic David Bailey Olympus ad from the 1970s – we just couldn't resist putting it up.

Lomo LC-A camera is 25 years old – and gets discounted for a day

Lomo_lca

The first-ever Lomo camera is 25 years old and to celebrate, you can pick up the Lomo LC-A on the cheap for one day only.

First produced in the (then) Soviet Union in 1984, it was designed as a workhouse' camera for everyday photography, complete with the iconic Minitar 1 lens for vivid, wide angle images and auto exposure for great snaps in all light. it was the camera that led to the Lomographic Society and the rest, as they say, is history.

The camera is still being made as an almost perfect replica (in China) and you can buy one on Friday 19th June with a 25 per cent discount. That means the £234 asking price for the basic model should drop to something like £175 tomorrow. Also that day, there's 10 per cent off everything in the Lomo online shop – but only for the day.

Olympus launches the retro-styled E-P1 Micro Four Thirds camera

Ep1_2

No, this isn't something from the archives of Olympus, this is a very modern piece of photographic kit – the Olympus E-P1 Micro Four Thirds camera.

What's that you ask? Well, it's a new type of camera, sitting somewhere between a compact camera and a pro-friendly digital SLR – offering the lightness and portability of the former and the high-end features of the latter. The result is something that offers top-notch images without adding weight to your bag, throwing in some retro style as a much-appreciated added bonus.

1970s Trimphone returns at Colloco

Trim1

A relic of a bygone era will return in a slightly adapted form very soon – the 1970s Trimphone.

It's being brought back at Colloco, offering much the same in design as you probably remember from growing up, including that geometric design, the handset resting across the top of the phone and as a nice finishing touch, the centre disc for your phone number and the number of the emergency services.

This being 2009, the dial has gone, replaced with push button controls that look like a dial from a distance. After all, what would you do without that hash key? They will be available in purple, green, pink, white, turquoise and red from August, priced at £38.95 each. See over for another of the colour options.

At first glance, you might think this is all about the looks – and there's no denying that the vintage-style walnut veneer cabinet and chrome-plated floor stand are certainly eye-catching.
