The Hideaway Dressing Table from Dwell looks like something you would find in a 1920s boudoir, but given a mid-century makeover.
It is a self-contained unit with a chair and mirror that tuck neatly away when not use – ideal for modern homes that are short on space. Whilst the idea itself looks older, the unit’s curved front and walnut exterior, give it a decidedly mid-century look.

The Rotaliana BPL Light by Camilla Diedrich was designed in 2005, but, like many white pendant lights, it has a space-age 1960s look to it.
The globe has been hand woven from white polyester, which has been knotted wooden casts and put in a steam oven, to create the little bubble effect. It is available in two sizes, 39cm in diameter (£606) or 65cm (£1024).

Iittala’s Maribowl is a classic of Finnish design, having been in production since the 1960s, and also has associations with that other great Finnish design company, Marimekko, as its founder , Armi Ratia, made the bowls even more desirably by using them at her famous garden parties.
Perhaps some of the Maribowl’s continued popularity is that it works as either a decorative item or a functional serving bowl – I’m picturing it filled with a huge ice cream sundae. It is available in a variety of different colours with the price being dependent on how difficult it to manufacture glass in that colour, red being the most tricky pigment to use.
Prices range from £16 for smaller Maribowls in shades of blue, green and grey through to £49 for a deep red colour, with shades of yellow, orange and brown priced somewhere in between, at Hus and Hem.
Three Sisters Decorative Platters are siblings based around the USA who come together to create nostalgic decoupage platters.
Each platter is handmade and designed around a particular theme. The current selection includes such retro themes as The Beatles, Elvis, TV Shows from the 70s and 80s, 60s Hippie and the one pictured here, 1970s Album Covers. All of the cut out images are sealed under the glass, so the platters are quite safe to eat off, although not suitable for microwaves or dishwashers.

It's impossible to escape the mid-century homewares trend at the moment. This colourful Jolie table lamp from John Lewis is influenced by the iconic Italian design house Kartell, who were, of course, responsible for the famous Philippe Starck Ghost Chair. The clear glass base houses the feature colour flex cable which matches the barrel lampshade. A simple yet striking 60s-style design that doesn't cost the earth; now you just need somewhere to put it.
