The New English Anatomica Ceramics

Anatomica_espresso_cup_and_sa
My first instinct on see the Anatomica range was to recoil in horror, but on further investigation it is an interesting collection.

Designed b y Lisa Turner for The New English, the collection consists of breakfast, cake and bread plates, mugs and tea cup and saucer sets. The design is inspired by the 19th century’s newly discovered fascination with the human body and shows a Victorian gentleman with his inner workings exposed. Prices start from £18 for a mug up to £69 for a coffee cup and saucer.

A new product from People Will Always Need Plates is always something to celebrate. Their latest range are these Electric Avenue Trays.

The illustration celebrates the past 200 years of British architecture with the different styles of homes we have had. The streets are complete with the type of transport typical of that period. The trays are available in two sizes, a large one (43cm by 33cm) and a small (27cm by 20cm), which cost £25 and £17.50 respectively. The colours are People Will Always Need Plates signature pop art shades – process blue or 70s green for the large trays or blood orange or magenta for the small.

Buy the trays directly from People Will Always Need Plates.

Wire Coffee Table/Magazine Rack

Coffee-table-magazine-rack-tray-[2]-5222-p
This Wire Coffee Table/Magazine Rack draws inspired from the wire furniture of the 1950s and 1960s such as Knoll’s .Platner chair or the Bertoia Diamond armchair.

We like these wire furniture, but we also like multi-purpose pieces, where this item also scores highly. It functions as a coffee table and magazine rack, but the wooden top can also be lifted off and used separately as a tray. It costs just under £110 which is a particularly good price if you look at it as three items in one.

Deco-style Zeta lamp by Pied a Terre

Zeta lamp
We've featured quite a few space age lighting designs this week. For lighting that looks to another era and another style, take a look at this Zeta lamp by Pied a Terre

It's a unusual table lamp that apparently draws inspiration from the Art Deco era and it's certainly a glamorous object, full of angles and reflective surfaces that are typical of that style. However, I can't help feeling that their take on Deco has been filtered through '70s design too. The mixture of chrome and smoked acrylic rods used in the lamp reminds me of another glamorous style – seventies disco.

Whatever your take on the lamp, it costs £120.
