Patchwork Harmony vintage chocolate moulds Christmas decorations

Patchwork copy

Christmas tree up but missing that final decorative touch? Patchwork Harmony have come up with an unusual but (literally) sweet idea. They are selling vintage chocolate mould decorations: moulds that are no longer in use, hung on ribbons, ready to hang onto the tree.

Somehow, judging from the image, the pretty shapes and the slightly aged material of the moulds actually seem to work quite well as decorations. Perhaps it would be worth plundering your Gran's cupboard or your local charity shops and seeing if you can make your own. If not, you can buy five in a pack for £6.95.

Wooden Soul Birds from Sanna Annuka

Soul birds

These Soul Birds have just landed on Sanna Annukka's lovely new website. They are based on an ancient Russian belief of birds delivering souls to newborn babies and transporting the soul to the afterlife at death.

Wooden birds were carved to keep by the bedside to keep the soul safe during sleep…aaaaahh! So in addition to looking fab they have a very beautiful story behind them.

Sanna Annukka's birds are handcrafted in England from a sustainable source, only 100 have been produced and each one is numbered by hand.

The birds aren't quite ready to fly the coop and are only available for pre-order. There are two sizes and they start at £75.

Fireside Gift Box at Re-Found Objects

Fireside

This post is obviously completely influenced by the weather, as nothing seems more appealing at the moment than curling up by the fire and toasting marshmallows. This Fireside Gift Box from Re-Found Objects gives you all you need to do just that – assuming you have a fire of course.

The kit contains an extending toasting fork, long matches with metal containter and of course marshmallows. The box is priced at £27 and is beautifully presented so would make a really unusual gift.

Hi-Fidelity Cat Magazine Rack by Fornasetti

39786_4C425E50

Hi-Fidelity Cat Magazine Rack is one of the most surprising product names I’ve come across in some time but it is no real surprise to find it comes from the strange mind of Piero Fornasetti.

Magazines are housed in-between two images of a check-covered cat, which is available in a choice of black & white, red & black or gold & black, all equally strange looking.

The magazine rack costs $674 (around £450) from Unica Home, which may not leave you with much money for magazines to put in it, but in this case it is no exaggeration to insist that it is considered a work of art rather than a mere storage solution.

Celebrity Scales from Snow Home

Scales

Forget those modern scales that scan you and tell you exactly how much excess weight you are carrying, when these old fashioned celebrity scales from Snow Home can instead raise a smile when you step on them.

Instead of weighing yourself in pounds or kilos you can find out if you are the same weight as Big Daddy or Roseanne. There is a musical version too where you can compare your weight to, amongst others, Prince or Pavarotti.

They probably won't start using these at Weight Watchers, but at least if someone asks you how much you weigh you can enigmatically say "the same at Rolf Harris"!

Buy them for £29 at Snow Home.
