Brightly coloured, fair trade, practical and with a retro feel. What's not to like about these kitchen clocks from Plümo? The simple numerical clock face sits in a purple, pink or apple coloured casing and contrasting coloured timer.
Two key looks in retro interiors are the pure white of space-age design and the warmer feel of walnut. The Slider Coffee Table is a piece of furniture that combines both those styles, so the hopeless indecisive (such as myself) doesn’t need to decide between the two.
The table comprises of two parts; a sold pure white table and wood veneer over table. The latter can be moved around and adjusted to suit your needs and space.
Dali’s iconic images of melting clocks were always going to be an obvious target for merchandising opportunities.
This Dali Wall Clock isn’t the most faithful interpretation of Dali’s timepieces, but it retains some of the surreal spirit while still being functional. Rather than the whole clock melting, here the clock is still a traditional circle, but it is the numbers and hands that have been distorted.
The clock costs just under £20 and is available to buy from Vertigo Interiors.
Bubinga Ltd was established with the aim of providing good design at affordable prices. This retro looking lounge chair is a pleasing example of the range of furniture they offer to meet this brief. It's got a nice low seat with wide armrests and a stainless steel base for swivelling on, as well as lounging.
It's available in a wide variety of finishes: black, red and white leather, pink floral or olive and aubergine stripes as well as the green pictured. Their price is £199.
Floral or patterned wall tiles may be too chintzy even for those of us whose tastes are rooted in the mid-century period, but stickers such as these Allrum Tile Stickers offer a modern twist.
The tiles are available in a choice of four designs, each in four colours (black, beige, red or turquoise). “Harry” features four rearing horses, “Rut” is a 1950s style check, “Agnes” an op-art pattern of squares, but my favourite is “Inga” a hearts and stems design reminiscent of Scandinavian folk art.
The Cornish shop Elephant & Monkey sells mid-century furniture, but they also sell a number of their own originals such as this 1950s Striped Coffee Table.
Here an old table has been given a new lease of life as it has been repainted in bold stripes. The one pictured here costs £210 and there is also a similarly restored piece with a magazine rack in predominantly blue shades for £200.
