Ovaltime Wall Clock

Ovaltimeclock

The Ovaltime Wall Clock is another great Etsy find. It has been created by Pilot Design, who has a selection of great clocks to buy, but this is my favourite.

The version pictured here is made from Chalk White laminate on MDF with oval-shaped cut out patterns. The combination of the colour and the curves give it a definite retro look. The Ovaltime clock is also available in black.

The clock costs $45 (around £30) and can be bought from Pilot Design’s shop on Etsy.

Michael Fish Weather Changing Mug

Michael_mug

Just in case you weren't brought up in the UK in either the 70s or 80s, Michael Fish was a weatherman of the old school – serious, sensible and presumably very intelligent. Well, he did have a look of the man who would be more comfortable wearing a white coat and holding a test tube. And the Michael Fish Weather Changing Mug is a tribute to him.

What does it do? Well, it doesn't tell you the weather, you'll have to turn on the TV for that. But it does use retro weather symbols and a picture of our Michael in his 70s finery to tell you the temperature of your drink. If it's cold, the mug shows cloudy skies and an obscured sun. If the drink is hot, the dark skies lift to reveal blazing sun in a matter of seconds. Yes, it's pure novelty-  but we like it.

If you want it as your next work mug, the Michael Fish Weather Changing Mug is yours for £9.95.

Rockett St George’s retro mail storage unit

Mail_storage

In the days of texting and email, it's highly unlikely that you'll get enough post to fill it, but this mail storage unit from Rockett St George could adapt itself to all sorts of storage. It's got 15 pigeon holes, 4 letter shelves and 6 drawers in which you could stash away your bits and pieces and at 81cm high and 80cm wide it could sit atop another work unit or desk.

It's described as 'vintaged' but it isn't exactly clear what that involves, presumably a bit of doctoring to make it look older than it actually is. However, at £180 per unit it might be tempting to try and pick up a similar looking original for yourself instead.

Aspire Bar Unit

Curvedbar

The Aspire Bar Unit is a home bar very much in the Seventies mould.

It is made from a sleek combination of chrome and glass (choose from clear or black) and has two shelves as well as the bar top.  This gives you plenty of room for your ice bucket, cocktail shaker and liquer bottles.

The unit costs £350 and can be bought online from Wotever, who kindly offer free delivery within the UK.

Sprite Napkin Dispenser

1018

When it comes to recreating a Fifties diner style, there are plenty of Coca-Cola products on the market, but something a little more distinctive is this Sprite Napkin Dispenser.

It has the same nostalgic style but as the vintage Sprite brand hasn't been as over-used as the Coke logo, it makes a refreshing change!  The dispenser costs £17.50 and will be available to buy soon from Just Retro.  Also coming soon is a matching Sprite straw dispenser, for £12.95.

Visit Just Retro for further details.

Blackboard Clock

Blackboardclock

Still reminiscing about childhood, here is another nostalgia-inspiring product. At a quick glance, the Blackboard Clock looks just like an ordinary blackboard, but it does have subtle clock hands in the middle.

A pack of chalk is supplied with board along with a pack of magnets, so as well as telling the time, it can be used as a message board too.

It is available to buy from Graham and Green, priced £52.50.
