Philippe Starck Dr No Chairs

1674Love them or loathe them, it seems impossible to get through the festive period without at least catching a glimpse of a James Bond film on television, so it seems only fitting to start the year off with the Dr No Chair.

Designed by Philippe Starck, it is the best selling item in the whole of Kartell’s range of furniture. The chair is available in a variety of colours and owes its popularity to its versatility as it can be used indoors and out, in the home or the workplace.

They are available from Atomic Interiors priced just over £100 each.

Retro cat string holder

Cat_string
If you’ve had an object in the home that you don’t use very often, it really has to look good – and that’s certainly the case with this retro cat string holder.

Yes, that’s a string holder. I can count on one hand the number of occasions I have needed string this year – in fact, one finger would do. But if string is your thing and you also need storage for your scissors (in the collar), this retro cat could be for you.

It can be used as an ornament or fixed to the wall. Whatever you do with it, the cat retails for £21.

Smeg_fire

Smeg has colonised your kitchen, so it’s no surprise to see the company moving into the rest of your home with appliances like this Smeg 50s-style retro flueless gas fire.

Ideal if you’ve got that open plan living thing going on, the fire matches up with the rest of your appliances and with no chimney required, it can go pretty much anywhere.  Flueless fires also convert 100% of gas to heat, which should help on the gas bill too.

They retail officially for £999, but we’ve seen them discounted down to £750.
