YMC Patent Leather Plimsoll

Ymc_plimsoll
We’ve covered the YMC plimsolls before, but Oki-Ni has a new twist on this simple shoe – the YMC Patent Leather Plimsoll.

It”s still very much the old-fashioned plimsoll, the kind you probably wore at school. Except this version matches the rubber sole and toe with a shiny white patent leather upper and adds a YMC logo on the rear.

A bit more expensive than your old school plimsolls too – they retail for £79.

Jinga retro-styled ethical trainers

Jinga

Not only are these Jinga trainers pretty stylish, they also tick the ethical and vegetarian-friendly boxes too.

Made in Brazil, these shoes help to support social projects in the country, providing educational support to poorer areas of Rio de Janeiro. They are also sweatshop free in accordance with the Ethical Trading Initiative and are also suitable for vegans. But above all, they look the part, not unlike some of the better Onitsuka vintage reissues such as the Nippon 60.

Cheap too – a pair in your choice of colour will cost you just £35.

Sesame Street character t-shirt and hoodie

Sesame_gear

Amazingly these items are for men, but I can’t think of too many blokes who would go out in a Sesame Street character t-shirt and hoodie, no matter how nostalgic they were.

Yet they are incredibly eye-catching items – even if they aren’t all that stylish. Packed with all your ‘old school’ Sesame Street favourites, they appear in full on the t-shirt or in part/detail on the hoodie, with the oversize t-shirt made from 100 per cent cotton and the hoodie from a soft cotton/poly blend with satiny lined hood and contrast drawstring pull.

Both are limited items, with the t-shirt retailing for $33 (around £17) and the hoodie for $80 (around £40).

Tretorn T-56 retro trainers – now in leather

Tretorn_leather

We covered the original Tretorn T-56 trainers some months back – timeless casual footwear dating back to the 1950s. If you liked those, you’ll love the new leather finish.

As we mentioned previously, the name is down to the year – these were introduced in 1956, but still look sharp over 50 years on. Traditionally made with a canvas upper, there’s now a leather option in the white pictured here or black, both with a matching midsole.

Available online, they retail for £65.

V&A’s limited edition t-shirt range

Va_pencils
London’s V&A has what is describes as a ‘unique’ archive of 19th and 20th century design and artwork. And rather than leave it hidden away, the museum is releasing interesting and prominent examples as t-shirts in strictly limited numbers.

The one pictured here is Pencils by Joseph Scorsone, dating back to the ‘mid 20th century’ (so we can guess 1950s or 60s), printed onto a slim-fitting 100 per cent cotton t-shirt and limited to just 150 units.

You can pick it up for £25.
