I’m a big fan of no-nonsense footwear – and these YMC Premium Plimsoles are very much a throwback to traditional gym shoes – and all the better for it.
Predominantly in cream with black detailing, they have a canvas upper with a contrasting rubber midsole and cream laces.
Ideal spring/summer footwear and available now, priced at £55.
You can search eBay for vintage fashion, you can wander the streets to find vintage shops or you can find a whole load of it up for auction at the Kerry Taylor vintage fashion auction on Tuesday 20th March 2007.
Kerry Taylor was a Sotheby’s auctioneer who has set up as a specialist fashion dealer, running regular vintage fashion auctions in the Sotheby’s auction rooms. You can pick up several designer pieces (mens and womens) at prices below retail.
But if you want the best deals, check out the bulk sales – like this cocktail and dinner wear lot from the 1960s. Approximately 63 pieces in the set (including the dresses pictured here) for an estimate of between £150 and £250. Good value in anyone’s book. They’ve been rumoured for some time, but finally, the Paul Weller-designed Ben Sherman shirt range is in the shops.
Going under the name Candy by Paul Weller, it’s a limited edition range (no mention of specific numbers) for spring/summer 2007. Two styles so far – pink and brown or light and dark blue “Candy” stripes, with a “superior” finish and 100% cotton composition. An additional design is expected soon.
The Chuck Taylor All Star Hi by Converse is a shoe that is just about as timeless as they come.
This psychedelic take on the "Chucks" are currently only available in Asia (have you heard it before?) but we reckon they will be for sale in the rest of the world pretty soon.
With the BBC getting big on the sounds of New York right now, it seems like a good time to feature something from one of its institutions – the CBGB t-shirt.
Probably the first name you’ll think of when it comes to music in the city, it opened its doors in 1973, closing last year, but probably peaking in influence during the mid 70s, where it became the home for rising US punk/alternative acts including The Ramones, Television, Blondie and the Talking Heads.
The t-shirt is something of a timeless classic. The one featured here is imported from the US and officially licensed. It’s available in a range of sizes and colours, along with two slightly differing designs.
Marks & Spencer seems to be improving in all areas – except with its menswear, which continues to go downhill season-on-season. However, there are the odd gems if you look carefully, one of those being these target-style cuffflinks.
Going for a monochromed look, they’re a nice alternative to the traditional targets and have a nice bulk to them, giving the look of a more expensive pair of cufflinks.
