Egloo Telephone Box salt and pepper set by David Roberts

Egloo

This Egloo Telephone Box salt and pepper set by David Roberts mixes the very traditional with the contemporary.

The 'Egloo' is Roberts's word to describe the shape of his shakers: a mixture of egg and igloo. Their unusual shape contrasts to the image depicted on each one, which offers a small piece of nostalgia for your kichen table. For example, in the set pictured, the egloos feature a classic red phone box while another design shows a traditional London guard.

The Egloos cost £18.

Newgate Vision Wall Clock

934064_m
Another great retro clock design from Newgate – the Vision Wall Clock.

This clock has been designed in a 1970s style and combines acrylic numbers with chrome spokes. It is available with the numbers and spokes in black and hands in red, or with reversed (as pictured). Apparently it has been seen in Hollyoaks (which may be a plus or a minus point depending on your opinion of the teen soap).

It costs £50 directly from Newgate.

Emily and Fin Palm Print Lucy Dress

Palm_dress
Forget that it's cold and grey outside and invest in a slice of summer with this fifties style Palm Print Dress from Emily and Fin.

The dress has a classic shape; sleeveless, with a high neckline and distinct waistband which gives way to a full skirt for a feminine retro silhouette. The monochrome print means there's no need to wait to start wearing this out – it will go just as well with black tights and a cardigan now as it will with bare legs and wedges once the weather warms up.

The dress wil be available from www.pretaportobello.com from early March but you can preorder it now – click here for more details.

Royal Albert 1970s Poppy range

547-10010-HUNALB23220_M
To celebrate the centenary of the Royal Albert China Company, Royal Doulton has reproduced a design from each decade, which includes a range in the 1970s Poppy pattern.

The design features a poppy flower surrounded by green leaves, with the china finished with nine carat gold trim. The range includes a mug, teapot, 3-piece tea set and plates. My favourite item is this hostess set – essentially a teacup on an extended saucer, which leaves a space for a slice of cake or biscuit (or two).

The collection is available to buy from Selfridges, where prices range from £20 to £125.

Swifty 40th anniversary of Decimalisation limited edition prints

Swifty

The 15th February 1971 saw the United Kingdom's currency change from the centuries old tradition of shillings and sixpence, to the new decimal currency of one hundred pence to one pound. 40 years on and the event is celebrated by these 40th anniversary of Decimalisation limited edition prints by Swifty.

Most of the coins have survived in some way or other, with the exception of the 'half penny', which was withdrawn in 1984 and is paid tribute to in the series of prints.

Take your pick from four striking colours, original bronze, orange, peacock blue and magenta, all hand pulled silk screen prints, signed and numbered by the artist, sized at 50 x 50cm and in an edition of only 40 per colourway. The price is £40 – or 8,000 half pennies!
