Rondo retro-styled armchair at John Lewis

Rondo1

We've said a few times of late that John Lewis has some nice retro and classic items in its furniture range this year, including the Rondo armchair and snuggler.

It's a modern design, but with a retro twist, we're thinking late 50s, early 60s with those curces and high arms. In terms of specifics, the frame is a mix of hardwood, softwood and manmade boards with upholstery in the slate colour pictured above and feet in a light-coloured wood.

£399 is the price of the armchair or if love is in the air, there's also a snuggler version for squeezing two people in. That's pictured over the page and sells for £499.

Cluster together and it's certain to be a talking point for your home. Check it out online at Heals, price is £350.

Maluku linen dress by KAS

Kas

As we put Winter behind us, hemlines can finally get as short as we like and the minidresses need no longer be accompanied by thick woolen tights. This Maluku Linen Dress by KAS is the perfect dress to celebrate the sunshine with, with plenty of retro appeal thrown in for good measure.

The light linen fabric couples well with the late sixties/early seventies feel of the dress. With a bright orange-red border print and neckline, there's a subtle but effective hint of the Eastern influence so loved by late-sixties counter culture. The loose fit counters a super-short hemline to create a relaxed retro look.

Get it online from Bluefly for $83.

Hollywood Lingerie and Sleepwear by What Katie Did

Robeslip

Great British vintage lingerie brand What Katie Did are still up their among our favourites for retro reproduction undies. Their vintage-inspired designs never fail to impress and their new Hollywood range is no different.

Including vintage-styled lingerie pieces from suspenders to bras, the stand out pieces in this range are the sleepwear. The robe and slip/nightie shown above are rarely seen pieces dripping with Old Hollywood glamour. Made from black satin, both items look like they've stepped off the silver screen. The slip is ideal for wearing as a nightie or even under dresses as a slip.

They're available online now from La Magia priced at £70 for the robe and £59 for the slip. Matching lingerie pieces are shown on the webpage.

Angie Lewin tea towels from St Judes

Lewin towels

St Jude's produce some lovely fabrics with a great retro look, including the Angie Lewin Hedgerow fabric we featured at the start of the year. If you like the look, you'll be pleased they've started reproducing some of Lewis' original fabric designs as tea towels, an easily affordable way to buy into the look.

There are three designs in total, stocked at Illustrated Living, including the Clifftop and Clocks designs pictured above. They're typical of her style showing skeletal 50s-style illustrations of plant forms and are screen-printed onto 100% organic cotton.

Watch this space, as St Jude's are soon to be launching their first range of ceramic mugs. In the meantime, these tea towels cost £9.95 each.
