Clarks Originals x Pretty Green desert boots

Clarks_pretty

When he's not stropping about at the Brits craving attention, Liam Gallagher is still plugging away with his clothes label. But he seems to be using a different tactic in 2010, teaming up with established labels. At least, that's if the Clarks Originals x Pretty Green desert boots are anything to go by.

It's a bit 'spot the difference' to be honest, although you've probably spotted the Pretty Green tag on the side, as well as the colour co-ordinated stitching/sole and a minor tweak to the laces. It might even have a slightly slimmer profile, but that's not clear from the early shots. What we do know is that this is essentially the classic Clarks desert boot with a twist, coming in three colours – 'champagne' (above), black and brown.

The price we've heard is £99 (a bit up on a standard pair), with a shelf date of July 2010.

Matthew Hilton for Case Casefile modular storage – inspired by classic Ladderax shelving

Case

If imitation is the sincerst form of flattery, Ladderax should be extremely flattered by the Matthew Hilton for Case Casefile modular storage.

It's incredibly similar in design to the sought-after midcentury modular pieces from Ladderax (which were sold in many of the high-end design shops of the day), the same 'ladder' supports and different set-up options, which offer shelving, storage, even an office module if you need it – all with black lacquered steel uprights and European walnut veneer shelving, as well as adjustable feet and wall mounting.

£895 is the entry level price at John Lewis. But if you want something a little cheaper, there's loads of original Ladderax set-ups and components on eBay, with prices for a completed piece from under £200. So you might want to compare and contrast.

eBay watch: 1950s Italian sofa and two armchairs

Italy1

Designer details are a little vague, but this Italian sofa and armchair set (spread out over two auctions) is certainly eye-catching.

The suite is said to be from the 1950s, which is very likely and as we said previously, comes from Italy. We love the curves, we love the contrast colours and we also love those period angled legs. We could probably live with the leatherette too.

No bids yet, with the two armchairs (pictured over the page) starting at £400, the sofa also at that price. While you're unlikely to find anything similar in a hurry, we suspect that price is a little on the high side. But if you love the 50s and get it at the opening price, it might work out at reasonable value.

Adidas reissues 1978 Argentina track top

Arg1

There's no denying that the Argentina World Cup winning team of 1978 was a pretty hip bunch, both on and off the pitch – so donning this Adidas reissue of the 1978 Argentina track top might give you a similar swagger.

Adidas is obviously aware of the brisk trade in vintage replica football gear, so it has delved into the archives to produce something with real attention to detail, faithful to the originals of 30+ years back. That means the old school Adidas logo and stripes, the national badge and the country's name on the rear – you can see that over the page. The year in the collar too, just in case you forget.

Available online, they sell for £75.

1960s Fronzoni tables get a splash of colour

Fronzoni

Always a low key design, the Fronzoni range of tables has gone a little more bold with a newly added splash of colour.

You can sill pick up these 1964 A. G. Fronzoni  designs from Cappellini in the trademark black or white, but if you want a dining or occasional table with a little more impact, there's also a choice of blue, yellow and red matt lacquered colours.

Everything else is just the same – a top in medium-density wooden conglomerate panel and a base in square metal tube. Little fuss, plenty of timeless style. Prices vary depending on your choice of square or rectangular table, but start around £1,200.

Witube1

New meets old with the Fatman Wi-Tube – an old school valve-based audio system for your iPhone.

Looks alone sell it – those valves sat proudly on a curved base, complete with old school VU meter and some chrome detailing. But it's not all about the looks, you also get a wireless FatDock for accessing tunes from your iPhone (or iPod) and of course, that 'warm' valve-based audio, which adds a traditional warmth to your digital tunes, not to mention an output of 28w per channel.

Also included is a remote control, the option to synchronise tunes with your computer (via USB) and the ability to hook up other music devices (with the aid of a cable). £399 is the price for the system, look out for it in April. See a larger image of the main unit over the page.
