Tea Sub Infuser – inspired by The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine

Sub

Love tea? Like brewing your own tea? Mad about The Beatles? Well that makes you the ideal customer for the Tea Sub Infuser.

Just drop the Yellow Submarine-inspired silicone tea infuser into your cup (after you've filled it with your favourite leaves), let it brew and you've got a tasty cuppa, not to mention a very inexpensive Beatles collectable. Presumably because it's only inspired by the band, not official gear.

How inexpensive? Utility Design is selling them for just £9.

Michelle Mason’s 1950s-inspired bags for the Southbank Centre

Michelle Mason bag

Of the many Michelle Mason designs we've featured on this site, you may remember the 1930s-inspired tote bags she designed for the London Transport Museum. Well, she's put her skills to good use again for another cultural institution, this time drawing on the Fifties for these bags for the Southbank Centre

The seed pod design is typically 1950s and fits in well with the rest of the Southbank Centre's products that are inspired by that era. The bag comes in the choice of purple or blue and costs £15.

Retro recycled wall clock

Recycled clock

Searching for a retro look but with green credentials? Check out this wall clock which, believe it or not, is made from recycled plastic coffee cups.

Full marks for a the look of the clock: chunky white numbers, set onto a black clock face with a bright trim of red. And, as for the material, well apparently it's been developed so it has a nicer feel and look than plastic. You can buy one of the clocks for £25.95 and decide that for yourself.

Super-sized Mini Countryman gets priced and dated for UK

Mini1

When is a Mini not a Mini? Well, some would say when BMW bought it, but in truth, it's probably with the launch of the Mini Countryman, heading your way in September from £16,000.

The newly-launched model still keeps those past-inspired looks and that iconic name, but a size up makes this more of a family runaround than a nippy number about town. That's no accident – this is indeed the Mini for when your single days are numbered.

PVC Domed Umbrellas from Dorothy Perkins

Umbrellas

With the heavens opening in earnest lately, there's every reason to invest in something pretty to keep you dry and keep spirits up at the same time. These PVC Domed Umbrellas from Dorothy Perkins are affordable and attractive, using plenty of sixties influence.

The plastic dome style is not only sturdy and practical, it was a big hit in the mid sixties in Britain, and this pair definitely lean on that era's aesthetic. Bright yellow, black and clear plastic give a that bright and cheerful look that crosses over into mod style so easily.

The brollies cost £10 each from Dorothy Perkins.
