Walnut and Gloss Sculptural Side Table

Whitesculpturetable

A trend that seems to be bubbling under at the moment is the combination of walnut and high gloss white in one piece of furniture. The latest example of this I’ve spotted is this Sculptural Side Table.

Pictured here is the version that is predominantly white with a walnut finish to the inner surface area, but it is also available with the finishes reversed. Perhaps one of each would be an interesting effect, and as they cost just £129 each, not an unrealistic amount to spend. They can be used as side tables in the lounge or in the bedroon.

The tables are available to buy from Dwell.

80s Style Sweater Dress from See by Chloé

See jumper

Jumper dresses are a versatile wardrobe staple available in a great variety of retro styles, but perhaps the most popular decade for the item are the 1980s. This See by Chloé version is every inch the eighties version, avoiding the faux pas of the era.

Made from a luxurious wool blend, the loose fit gives an oversized menswear look that characterised the decade's jumper dress style. Gold look beading against black gives a feel of the Dallas-style luxury too.

Find it online at Matches Fashion for £348.

Collectif are known for their punky retro clothing, but if you're looking for something more genuine vintage look there are some gems in their collection. This Peacock Print Swing Skirt is a cute little fifties reproduction for any occasion.

Made from a classic circle skirt shape with a high waist, the silhouette is immediately fifties look. Unusual additions like the tulle underlay and a vibrant blue peacock print give this skirt some edge, while being just subtle enough to stay classic.

Ross Lovegrove 70s-style Tri-Oval Table for Knoll

Trioval

A modern design, but there's no denying that the Ross Lovegrove Tri-Oval Table for Knoll could have come kicking and screaming from the 1970s.

Tri-Oval presumably because of the oval glass and three-legged support, the low table is available in a wide range of finishes, from clear and chrome to bright and colourful, but we prefer this smokey top and bronze frame which pushes the 70s- factor up to 11.

Shop around for the best price, but expect to pay around £1,000.

Keith Haring fabric patches from the Pop Life exhibition shop

Fabric patches

The exhibition Pop Life opened last week at Tate Modern. The show looks at the impact of Pop Art and how following generations of artists embraced the cult of celebrity and the commercial opportunities it offered. At the centre of the exhibition is a recreation of Keith Haring's Pop Shop which he set up in New York to sell his branded products directly to the public. Of course this means Tate is stocking some great related products, including these fabric patches.

Reflecting Haring's willingness to put his name to just about anything, they use four of his famous designs, including the baby. They are perfect for adding a touch of street art to a worn, but otherwise loved, item of clothing. At £4.40 each they are a cheap way into buying into a favourite artist and the spirit of the exhibition.

Teapots and Jugs tea towel by Skinny laMinx

Teapot teatowel

We've featured Skinny laMinx before: her borrowed spoons textile had a distinctive 50s feel about it. Her new Teapots and Jugs tea towel has a similar look, partly because it is based on illustrations of all the vintage teapots and jugs she owns! Prepare to be envious of her attractive looking collection (you can see the original objects on her blog). The patterns and shapes of the ceramics are displayed in outline against panels of block colour.

The design is screenprinted onto hopsack and is available in grey or dutch orange for $12.50.
