Mix Tape Engraved Illustration

Mixtapepicture

The design duo, Uncommon, describe their style as a mixture of modern clean lines and old-fashioned sensibility. Their home accents range includes a small selection of engraved illustrations which tend towards a retro style and this Mix Tape Engrave Illustration particularly caught my attention.

It is a framed engraved panel made from fibreboard, measuring 10 inches by 15 inches. There is a delightful little background story to the illustration given in the description, about finding it behind a wall in their home, which just adds to the character of the piece. The Mix Top Illustration is available in a choice of ash grey or antique blue, both costing $25 (around £15). International shipping is available.

Buy online via their Etsy store.

Mod wines by Grateful Palate Imports

Modwine1

We got an email today from LA-based designer Dave Bravenec, tipping us off about his latest project – the design for the Mod wines by Grateful Palate Imports.

As you can see, the bottles (and see over the page for cartons)  produced for the Australian wine company feature a stylised, almost psychedelic image of a mirrored-up scooter, with the slogan 'I don't want to drink any other wine, that's why I'm a Mod!' on the rear.

In the first instance, the wines will be distributed on bottles of both red and white, with varations of the design heading to various other vintages over the coming months. We think it's Australia and the US-only right now, but it will eventually hit the UK. if it makes it to Tesco's 3 for £10, we'll be buying it by the box load. See over the page for the carton designs and the promotional poster image.

Finn Juhl’s 1950s Turning Tray

Turning trays

Finn Juhl originally designed his Turning Tray in 1956 and it has been relaunched by Lassen tableware. Using several distinctive elements of Juhl's style, the tray remains elegant today. Its curved teak frame and laminate surface was adapted into a table design in the 1960s.

The tray comes in three sizes as shown above and is still handmade in Denmark. The laminate is available in various evocative sounding colour options for the laminate: kimono red, angel blue, alaska white or husky green, all with black desert.

Though the design is stylishly simple, the price isn't, ranging from £105 to £145 depending on what size you pick.
