Pop Pickers – bespoke 7-inch vinyl artwork by Kavel

Pop

Kavel is one of our favourite illustrators and she’s now offering something rather smart if you’re a fan of good old vinyl – Pop Pickers.

Here’s the deal – you choose your favourite record, Kavel re-creates the record by hand and the artwork is then mounted on an 8-inch square architectural block. That favourite record is preserved forever.

Each one is made to order and signed, priced at 80 Euros (£70 or $100) including postage. Want to know more? Get in touch with Kavel via the website.

George Nelson 5451 and 5452 1950s tables

Nelson_utilitarian

He might be best known for his quirky clocks these days, but George Nelson also knocked up some pretty stylish furniture designs, including these George Nelson 5451 and 5452 tables.

Designed back in 1954, but with hints of the later space age look, the tables are classic form and function – a cast aluminium pedestal leg and a hard-wearing surface that’s bonded to an exposed ply structure. Which means something that’s likely to be around as long as you need it.

Take your pick from a black or white finish, prices start at £529.

Paisley print party dresses from New Look

Paisley_new_look

Paisley prints in women’s clothing are often reserved for the more casual, hippie inspired styles on the high street. If you’re looking for a more sleek, party friendly look with a paisley print, New Look have come up trumps.

Their current new range of dresses features a variety of paisley numbers, including this mini dress (left) which is my favourite. The barely tailored dress shape allows it to cope with the bold print, giving a modern take on a classic 60s shape. For the more demure look, this knee length gown can be casual or formal however you wear it.

TUK Shoes Tattoo Flash babydoll pumps

Tuk_shoes

Tattoo prints are a hugely popular feature of rockabilly fashion, allowing you to emulate the classic tattoo designs with much less of a commitment. An easy way to wear such vibrant prints is on your accessories, not least shoes. These TUK shoes Tattoo Flash pumps are a fantastic rockabilly pair with pizazz.

The babydoll pump shape is simple and sleek, and the cream leather shade works with it to allow the print to grab the eye uncluttered. These are ideal for adding interest to an all black outfit or something a little plain.

They’re available online from Baby Girl Boutique for just $42.

Giannina 1960s espresso coffee pot

Giannina

Stylish and useful – it’s no wonder the Giannina espresso coffee pot is still doing swift business after 40 years.

Designed back in 1968 and available in three sizes (small, medium and large), the stylish coffee pot is made of polished stainless steel instead of the usual aluminium, while the top section is locked onto the bottom by a handle, rather than a screw-on mechanism. Small details that add up to something better than the average.

it doesn’t cost the earth either – yours from £69.

Scandyna space age Dock Pack audio system

Scandy

Remember the Scandyna Micropod space age speakers? Well, now they’ve become an audio system – the Scandyna Dock Pack.

It uses two slimmed-down Scandyna Micropod speakers, each able to knock out 15w of output, with a matching dock able to host a variety of iPods or other makes of MP3 player.

But there is a downside – you can have any colour you like, just as long as it’s pink. And that’s certain to put off more people than it appeals to. If you like pink, it sells for around £200.
