Matalan_skirt

Affordable retro fashion is all over the high street at the moment, so if you can’t afford to splash out Matalan is a surprisingly good choice. This Full Print Skirt by their Papaya line is a great version of the classic circle skirt.

Combining the full, structured shape with a dark, dynamic floral print gives this a great all year look. Finished with a high waist, the shape is ideal for creating a mainstream fifties silhouette.

It’s on sale now at Matalan stores for just £16.

Le Klint 101 – 1940s pendant light

Klint_101

It might look like a piece from the 60s, but the Le Klint 101 pendant light actually dates back to the 40s.

The 101 is the work of architect Kaare Klint, produced in 1944 and generally known as the ‘Fruit Lantern’ (due to its shape). It’s still made in a very old fashioned way too – hand-folded from a single sheet of plastic, arriving assembled with a 2m white flex, ceiling rose cover and lamp holder.

All of that is priced from £210, depending on your choice of size.

Autoban Built By De La Espada 1950s-style Box Sofa

Box_sofa

Yesterday I said that the Karimoku K sofa was the most stylish piece of seating I’d seen in a long time. Well, one day later and it’s got a competitor – the Autoban Built By De La Espada Box Sofa.

Taking it’s prompts from 1950s modernism, this box-like sofa is available in both walnut or oak and in two sizes (compact or large), all with that cushioned cream interior, very much reminiscent of the Knoll sofas of that period.

As you might expect, it’s certainly not the cheapest sofa on the market – prices start at £2,245.

My Own Morph – re-live your childhood

Morph

Remember Morph? The plasticine man wit the big eyes who managed to graduate from being Tony Hart’s sidekick to grabbing his own TV show in the 80s. And over 30 years on since his first TV appearance, Morph is back as My Own Morph.

Yes, as the name suggests, this is your very own Morph – but you have to make him from the supplied blocks of plasticine, an instruction book and accessories (eyes cricket bat, wizard’s hat, skateboard, beard and comic book). And once you’ve made Morph, you can sit back and compare him to the real thing – the kit also features a DVD with 15 classic TV episodes.

Sounds like a wet weekend covered – and yours for £10.95.
