Star Wars USB hubs – with movement and sounds

Star_wars_usb

More Star Wars geekery, this time the Star Wars USB hubs – fresh out of Japan.

If you love the movie, this is actual quite a useful bit of merchandise, offering four extra USB connection points for your PC, with the added bonus of sound effects and in the case of R2-D2, some movement of the head.

Japan gets these in July for the equivalent of £33. I suspect various collector’s stores will have them soon after.

Ray Stool – a tribute to Ray Eames

Ray_stool

According to Radi Designers, the Ray Stool is a tribute to Ray Eames. But we just love those 60s pop art-style looks.

Apparently, the stool is based on Ray Eames’ profile, creating a totem-like stool that stands 44cm high and is available in a range of colours, including yellow, black, pearl and red.

And you can pay tribute in your home for £277.18.

1950s & 1960s Vintage Educational Posters

Posteredufunfair

Rennies Seaside Modern has a good stock of original educational posters from the 1950s and 1960s.

The term “educational” probably doesn’t sound the most inspiring, but these posters are lovely reminders of days gone by. They seem particularly appropriate to feature now as many of them depict summery scenes, such as the seaside and fairground.

Prices range from £50 for unframed posters up to £200 for some framed.  To see the current selection, visit the Rennies website.

1920s style lace shift dress at ASOS

Lace_shift_asos

Following on from the flapper style dress at French Connection of a few weeks ago is another fantastic ode to the decade from another fashion brand. This Vintage Lace Shift dress is from ASOS and looks every bit the original.

In the almost shapeless shift style it’s a perfect shape for 1920s fashion, which favoured rakish, boyish figures above all. The lace panelling on the shoulder and chest adds a little extra interest to make this dress both demure and rather daring.

It’s only available as a one off from the ASOS website, so be quick if you want to snap this one up in a size 6 for £40.
