Taito’s 30th anniversary Space Invaders Keychain Set

Original Space Invaders developer Taito is selling a rather cool little 30th anniversary add-on – this Space Invaders Keychain Set.

Three keychains in the set, with the miniature aliens sat in a clear acrylic casing, each one with own anniversary tag, should you wish to save them as collectables.

These are a Japan-only release, but as ever, plenty of shops importing these, including NCSX in the US – which is selling the set for a very cheap $8.50 (around £4.50).

Bonhams vintage Motorcycle and Scooter auction

If you love all things two wheels, you need to get yourself down to RAF London at Hendon to see the items available in the Bonhams vintage Motorcycle and Scooter auction.

It’s the largest one-owner collection of bikes ever to be offered in the UK, with the Professor Fritz Ehn Motorcycle Museum Collection offered for sale, along with spare parts and memorabilia. A seemingly endless selection is available to browse on the site, with the scooters outnumbered by the bikes – but if you love a scooter, there’s some really obscure models and makers. The 1953 Piaggio Vespa 125 pictured here is being offered in its original condition with Austrian plates, with an estimate of £1,800 – 2,200.

But there’s plenty more at higher and lower prices if that doesn’t catch your eye. You can view them all (with on obligation to bid) at RAF London at Hendon on June 28th (Post 1pm) 29th, and 30th. The auction itself takes place on the 30th June.

It might be sunny outside, but we all know that rain isn’t often far away in this country so a lightweight raincoat is a must have. Thankfully, you don’t need to resort to that horrendously scratchy theme park poncho anymore thanks to Muji.

The Japanese design company have brought us this Freecut rain coat, available in black and clear, for a more stylish way to stay dry. There’s something decidedly Mod about the cut and collar of this high button coat. The A line serves to be practical in covering any many of outfit while looking great itself.

American country style often comes in and out of favour, with the mainstay gingham print remaining a staple in many retro wardrobes. It’s a perfect summer choice for vintage style lovers to wear year after year.

This Check Shirt Dress from Topshop is a great choice not only because of the gingham style print, but for the cut too. The cute dolly style collar and cuffs, with the contrast diagonal check work well with the full skirt and button down front to make this a style fit for anyone from Dorothy of Oz to Wanda Jackson.

It’s unfortunately only available in black, but costs a very reasonable £40.

James Brown’s estate goes up for sale at Christie’s

The Godfather of Soul is no longer with us, but his possessions are – and you can pick up just about everything from James Brown’s estate in an auction at Christie’s.

The James Brown Collection really does include everything – from hair care products, sunglasses and shoes (pictured above) through to stage costumes, awards and handwritten lyrics.

Highlights include the blue denim Godfather of Soul jumpsuit he wore for the 1974 concert that preceded the ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman ($5,000 – $7,000), a black cape featuring Brown’s name ($15,000 – $20,000) and Brown’s Grammy awards for Living in America – also with a $15,000 – $20,000 estimate.

The auction takes place in New York on July 17th. Sadly, the full listings are not yet online, check the link below in the coming weeks to view the collection.

If the vintage Olympics bags we featured yesterday weren’t high-end enough for you, the Dior Homme Coated Canvas messenger bag could fit the bill.

Similar to the Dior Homme bowling bag we covered some time back, it’s a classic messenger bag, with its retro-styled looks enhanced by a simple black finish – although the label tags will tell everyone you’ve paid through the nose for it.

The bag also has a natural trim, zip pocket, dogtooth lining and an adjustable shoulder strap. As you’ve probably guessed, not cheap at £605.
