New Balance 576 20th anniversary edition trainers

Newbalance_576

Remember 1988? Maggie Thatcher was PM, Bros were at the top of the charts and I was still working my way through the education system. And New Balance introduced its 576 trainers.

And in 2008, all the above has changed – except that the New Balance 576 is back as a 20th anniversary edition. Limited to just 576 pairs, the new version is based exactly on the old – colour, material, sole unit and manufacturing – made in the same New Balance factory in Cumbria.

A pair will cost you £80.

New “50’s” collection at Warehouse

Warehouse_50s

The myriad of retro and vintage inspired lines on the high street of late have generally been quite impressive. While some favour a stab at authenticity, many have gone full tilt for a modern take on retro influences. With all that, though, Warehouse’s new 50’s collection is the downfall.

While there are a few pretty pieces and all at great prices, the range neither updates the style nor truly gets the look back spot on. The result is some nice skirts and dresses and the rest looking a bit like frankly rubbish filler. Not exactly inspirational, but worth a look for some wardrobe filling bargains that will wear with anything.

Vintage inspired paisley scarves at Miss Selfridge

49l12apnk_normalAs the winter months leave us at last its out with the wool and in with the summer scarves. It’s a great way to wear a retro print in moderation, and that’s where this Marrakesh Scarf from Miss Selfridge steps in.

Available in this pink colour scheme, or a dark purple alternative, this vintage inspired paisley number is a great looking homage to 60s/70s ethnic inspiration. The name is rather apt, too, what with many an icon of the time tripping off to the Morrocan city for some herbal relaxation.

The scarves are available now online or in the shops for a very reasonable £12.
