Kim White Red Chevron retro travel bag

Kimwhite
Kim White
does something strange with bags – she makes them out of vintage American car fabrics. And guess what? They look pretty cool, with designs like this Red Chevron retro travel bag.

Perfect for a weekend away, no-one will suspect your bag was made from a 1979 GM Motors vehicle, they’ll just see it as a smart houndstooth number, trimmed with black leather, red trim and with a zip top. There’s also a large zip pocket on the side, as well as an organiser pocket.

Sized at 16 x 22 x 9 inches (excluding strap), it retails for $380 (around £190).

Po205_3A companion piece to the Mondri Vase featured last month, is the Piet Bowl. Produced by Danish company PO, it is another functional product that pays homage to the work of the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian.

The fruit bowl comprises of two separate glass trays that are place on top of each other to create the bowl. The colours used in the bowl are the Mondrian’s signature primary colours.

It is available to buy from AbsolutForm for approximately £28.

Big Easy Chaise

BigeasychaiselongueSome of the classic chair designs look stylish but not particularly comfortable, but when I saw the Big Easy Chaise, I could immediately picture myself laying back in it restfully for a whole afternoon. It is available in a huge selection of fabrics but I love the decadence of the embroidered fabric pictured here.

Its available to buy from Iconic Interiors, with prices starting at £625.

Asus wood-cased Internet Radio

Asus_internet
Looking not unlike one of those receivers people used to use to drop in on ships or the local police force is this Asus Internet Radio.

However, it does have two big differences – firstly, that rather smart wood casing that gives it a distinctive vintage look and the secondly, the technology. You see, this is an internet radio – which means it can pick up over 10,000 radio stations by connecting to your home wireless network or via a cable from your broadband modem. Just think – you need never listen to local radio again.

Newly unveiled, there’s no price for this as yet – or indeed a UK launch date.

Go Modern offers 1950s Florence Knoll sofa on a budget

Knoll_sofa

Go Modern
is packed with iconic designs from the likes of Eames, Jacobsen, Saarinen, Le Corbusier, Breuer and Castiglioni – but considerably cheaper than you might imagine, due to being European interpretations of the classics, as opposed to officially licensed UK pieces. And typical is this Florence Knoll three-seat sofa.

Designed in 1954 as part of her Lounge Collection, it has the styling of a 60s piece, but still looks every bit the contemporary sofa today. This version is offered in a choice of Italian leather, including full aniline – the highest quality available.

But the best part is the price – £849 for a three-seater, which is more high street than high-end design.
