For sale: Fred Dibnah’s house

Dibnah
Want to own a TV legend’s house? Well, now you can because Fred Dibnah’s house and workshops are up for sale at auction.

If you are from the UK, Fred needs no introduction. If you aren’t, let’s just say he was a small man in a flat cap from Bolton, obsessed with the country’s industrial heritage – and spend more or less every year from the mid-1970s on our screens telling us about it.

The property featured regularly on those shows. Built in 1851, it has everything you would expect from a three-bedroom family home, but with a cottage theme and mock beams. It also backs onto a river and is sold with Fred’s workshops, his equipment and the mining shaft he dug in his last series.

Offers are invited between £300,000 – £350,000.

Wizard Rubber Bowls

Egwiz45wIf the TV Dinner Table below isn’t quite your style, then these Wizard Rubber Bowls may be an interesting alternative.

Made from the impressive sounding “Foodsafe Sentroprene® Rubber”, the bowls can be moulded into different shapes, allowing you to present your nibbles in various ways. The white version (pictured here) would also  complement any space age design in your home, although the effect may be lost somewhat once its filled with crisps and dips.

They are priced between £25 and £38 according to size and are available in a dark grey as well.  You can buy them online from Absolut Form

TV Dinner Table

SendthumbnailIf you can’t prise yourself away from this week’s selection of retro television programmes, you’ll need one of these TV Dinner Tables.

The plastic tray has indentations for your food, drink and crockery and is available in pink, blue or the more authentically 1970s orange.

They are currently half price from the DotCom Giftshop, reduced to just £10 – cheap enough for you to pay one for each member of your household so you can still dine together.

Leonhard Pfeifer walnut Mini Bar

Walnut_bar
The word ‘bar’ usually conjures up images of boat-shaped nightmares made of plastic and fake leather. The Leonhard Pfeifer walnut Mini Bar is a far more stylish affair.

This retro-styled walnut bar with oak legs can be used as a small table if you’re not offering the drinks. But open it up and you it reveals your collection of bottles, as well as having a shelf for extra storage.

Available in the walnut/oak here or in all oak (if you want something lighter), it’s available from the Hidden Art Shop for £285.

V&A’s Vintage Camera apron

Camera_apron
The V&A has recently been hosting an exhibition of the work of Lee Miller and offering some merchandising to match, including this rather smart Vintage Camera apron.

The apron is made from 100 per cotton and features a light meter and a Rolleiflex – kit of choice for Miller – as well as a Lee Miller signature on the patch pocket on the front.

In fact, it looks so smart, it’s almost a shame to risk splashing it whilst cooking. Available online, you can pick one of these up for £15.

Magical Mystery Tour biscuit barrel

Beatles_biscuit
Although referred to on the site as a cookie jar, I think I prefer the term Magical Mystery Tour biscuit barrel.

But whether you eat cookies or biscuits, this is a great place to keep them. Shaped like the bus from (in my opinion) The Beatles’ most interesting movie, it seems to have a lift-off lid and enough room for a couple of packets of your favourite nibble.

Available online, you can snap one up for £39.95.
