Laura Lees Tunic Dress

12l16rmul_large If you can’t stretch to the Biba Dress we featured yesterday, but are still in the market for a tunic dress, then here is a considerably cheaper option from Laura Lees for Topshop.

This 60s style tunic dress has a retro graphic print all over with Laura Lee’s signature embroidery motifs around the neckline.

It was originally on sale for a very reasonable £38 but has been reduced to the bargain price of £25 and at the time of writing is still available in Small, Medium and Large.

Visit the Topshop website to buy.

George Nelson Eye Clock

Vitra_eyeWe’ve not featured a George Nelson clock for a few weeks now, so here is another one for you to look at – the Eye Clock.

Its hard to believe that this clock was designed fifty years ago, but it dates back to 1957. It has recently been reissued by Vitra and is one of Nelson’s more unusual designs. The use of the eye shape rather than more tradition round clock faces reminds me of the products designed by the Surrealists.

Several online shops are selling the Eye Clock, including Utility Design, and it is usually prices at just under £200.

Biba Black Tunic Dress

BibadressThere have been rumbling of discontent on various fashion blogs recently that Biba has lost its way somewhat. The main accusation has been the label has moved away from its origins an is no longer affordable for the average woman. Whilst the prices are certainly on the high side, the designs continue to be heavily influenced by the label’s 1960’s roots and some pieces are worth saving up for, as is the case with the Biba Black Tunic Dress.

It is made from 100% silk jersey, is mini-length and has balloon-sleeves. The print on it is pretty similar to the print on the Hulanicki wallpaper from Habitat, but unfortunately the dress costs a fair bit more, priced at just under £300.

It is available now from Matches Fashion.

Design Shop UK Barbie Chair

1720Design Shop UK have based their Barbie Chair on a 1960’s Arkana Chair that has not been in production for 25 years.

It can be made in colours of your choice although it probably looks best in the classic white, which best highlights its sleek finish.

The white version was apparently featured in this year’s Big Brother (I don’t know this firsthand, it says so on their website) but don’t let that put you off.

Vestal Shortwave Jr watch

Shortwave
Another quirky timepiece influenced by the past, this time the Vestal Shortwave Jr watch.

On the face of it, the watch has looks reminiscent of the 1970s, but in actual fact, the Shortwave Jr is influenced by radios from the 1950s and 1960s. Features of this waterproof watch include a choice of colour scheme, stainless steel case and a grain leather strap.

You can pick one up online for $126 (around £65).

My Generation target slipmats

Mygen_slipmats
Not many good slipmats around and while these My Generation slipmats might not be perfect, they’re more interesting that the usual assortment.

Yes, it’s the mod target, complete with red turntable arm and ‘my generation’ on the top – the final one we could probably do without.

But if you have a pair of decks, these are an inexpensive addition at £12.50 for the pair.
