Luc Gensollen Cubik table lamp

Cubik_lamp
Cool design doesn’t have to cost a fortune – check out this Cubik table lamp as a prime example.

Designed by Luc Gensollen, the lamp has a base of polished aluminium, with a clear bulb giving out the light, complemented by a transparent cable.

The whole thing has a modernist vibe to it, but whether you’re going for a 30s look or something more modern, £55 seems a reasonable price to pay for a very stylish piece of lighting.

Keiichi Taanami pop art prints

Taanami

Keiiichi Tanaami is a new name to me, but he’s been producing pop art-style art in Japan since the 1960s – and is still doing it today.

Tanaami’s art has been championed of late by Paul Smith, who has exhibited his work and is now selling some limited edition prints – including this Kamon print, which is typical of the artist’s work.

Measurements as framed 79xm by 58cm by 3cm with the image printed on Japenese Echizen Washi paper in a limited edition of just 30. You can buy it framed for £950.

Marc Sadler’s Twiggy lamp

Lrg_twiggy
With a name like the Twiggy lamp, you would expect this to be a product of the sixties. But it’s actually a very modern piece of design.

The work of Mark Sadler and manufactured by Italian firm Foscarini, it’s not unlike the classic 60s Arco lamp, with that big overhang, but a more traditional shade and much thinner stem.

Made of glass fibre and chrome and available in a choice of four finishes, the Twiggy lamp retails for £764.

Vintage Mini – now available with an electric engine

Vintage_mini

Vintage cars and the environment don’t necessarily go together – unless you pick up a re-conditioned Mini from Future Vehicles.

It’s eco-friendly because they source an old Mini, re-condition it, then convert it to an electric car. You can dictate both the specification and the interior of your revamped Mini, with the entry-level electric Mini offering a speed of up to 40mph and a range of 50 miles before it needs a charge.

That makes it an ideal car for knocking about round town. Although the starting price of £17,000 might make you think twice about your green credentials!

Tate Gallery’s Tony Hart t-shirt

Howies_tate
Outside of Rolf Harris, possibly the most famous artist in Britain – certainly for anyone whose childhood was in the 1970s – is Tony Hart. And he’s now been honoured by Britain’s most famous gallery.

The Tony Hart t-shirt is produced by the Tate Gallery in conjunction with ethical clothing retailer Howies. Available in three sizes, it’s a simple blue t-shirt with the name of our Tony in a retro font on the front, with the Tate logo on the sleeve.

Only available from the Tate and Tate online, you can pick it up now for £25. Let’s hope they follow it up with a Morph shirt.
