eBay Watch: Post Office Tower glass dish

Postofficetower_dish
I’ve always been fascinated by the Post Office Tower. Perhaps it’s because I never went up it as a small child, or maybe its because of its status as a symbol of 60s London. Either way, I think original memorabilia of the tower is a collectable of the future.

And that’s why this Post Office Tower glass dish looks such a good buy. The image of the tower is screenprinted on the glass, with an image of Nelson’s Column to the side just to give an idea of scale. No bids at £9.99 – which seems a fair price.

I’m off now to harass BT to re-open the revolving restaurant.

Uniqlo vintage-inspired Selvedge jeans

Uniqlo
You can buy cheap jeans – but good jeans are rarely cheap – unless you pick up a pair of Uniqlo Selvedge jeans.

Why so different? Well, for a start, they’re smart Selvedge jeans, so less chance of fraying or damage. It’s also a quality denim, made at one of Japan’s top denim mills. And then there’s the cut – which is  a straight leg, inspired by vintage styles/cuts. The downside for some might be the colour, which is listed as black, but is actually more of a very dark blue when you seen them up close.

But if you want a pair of dark jeans, these are an absolute steal at £39.99 – much cheaper than a branded vintage remake.

eBay Watch: Dodo Designs Lion peg bag

Dodo_lion
If you’ve never encountered Dodo Designs, you’ve really been missing out. Typical of the swinging sixties, it specialised in pop art style home accessories and decoration – everything from quirky takes on household products to Victoriana. And it’s becoming more collectable by the year.

There’s a particularly unusual example on eBay right now – this Dodo Designs Lion peg bag, featuring a brown and orange cartoon-like lion design with a hook for hanging and the makers logo on the bottom.

And for a disposable item, it’s in great condition for its age. £9.99 right now – a real bargain in our book.

Pea Nut Beanbag

D_819Despite all of the classic chairs we feature, beanbags still always come to mind when I think about retro homes. I imagine cool hippie types lounging around listening to music on giant beanbags. Beanbags have fallen out of fashion somewhat in recent years, and are perhaps not what most people want in their lounge, but these Pea Nut Beanbags can also be used outdoors, where they will provide a comfortable alternative to the deckchair. T

hey are available in a range a good range of colours including red and caramel or brown and caramel which adds a further seventies feel to them.

They cost approximately £150 and are available to buy from Urban Suite.
