Lasonic i931 retro ghetto blaster for your iPod

Lasonic_ghetto

One of the few occasions that we can’t provide a link to buy – but even though it’s not yet out, we think it’s worth mentioning the Lasonic i931.

It packs an iPod into the body of an old school ghetto blaster, pounding out your tunes and flashing a few lights along the way. And that’s about all we know right now. In fact, this isn’t even a real picture, just the company’s latest mock up.

It’s going to be launched at the big electronics trade show (CES) in January 2008, so if you save a bit of your Christmas money, you might be able to pick one up not long after.

Nixon’s The Score watch

Nixon_score

Not the first time we have featured a Nixon watch on these pages, but we really love the vintage-style looks of The Score watch.

Much of that is probably down to it being gold rather than silver (colour that is – it’s actually made of stainless steel), not to mention the scrolling counter and general chunky nature of the watch.

Available online, it retails for £70.

Mademoiselle Missoni Chair

Missonichairs

Second only to Pucci in producing fabrics synonymous with the 1960s is fashion house Missoni. They gained fame with their colourful patterns and stripes on a wide range of fabrics and for some time now these designs have been used in homewares as well as clothes. The Mademoiselle Missoni Chair by Kartell brings together the distinctive fabric of fashion label and the furniture design of Philippe Starck.

The Mademoiselle chair features transparent legs combined with a seat upholstered in a choice of fabrics. The Mademoiselle is a pretty special chair anyway, but combined with the retro chic of Missoni, it is even better.

They are available from Design Conscious priced £373 per chair, which isn’t a bad price for the work of two top names in design.

Warhol Quotation Prints

Large__11_07_2006_17_56_warhol20famBesides his art, Andy Warhol will also be remembered for his words about fifteen minutes of fame. In the modern world obsessed with reality television and celebrities famous for nothing very much, he is looking like a prophet. Warhol’s immortal words are now available as prints, featuring a quotation from the artist over a picture of him tinted a suitably pop art colour.

As well as the legendary quotation on fame, there are others from the great man, including the equally sage “art is what you can get away with” and the decadent “but I always say one’s company, two’s a crowd, and three’s a party’”

Priced £16.95 each, Bloomsbury Store has seven to choose from.

Vintage Camera photo album

Camera_photoalbum
A nice twist on the usual dull places to store your photos is this Vintage Camera photo album.

Yes a cool camera on the front, probably far cooler than the digital one you use to take your snaps. It measures 4-3/8 x 6-3/4 inches and includes 18 plastic sleeves to hold 36 4 x 6-inch photos. There’s also acid-free colour card inserts and a metal button with an elastic closure to keep the album closed.

You can pick one up online for $12.50 (around £6.50).
