Chinavision cassette-shaped MP3 player

Chinavision_cassette
By far the quirkiest – and possibly coolest – MP3 player I’ve seen in a long time – the Chinavision cassette-shaped MP3 player.

As well as the retro design (which also features an image of a record deck on the exterior), the player allows storage of MP3 tracks on an SD or MMC card (up to 2GB), with buttons on the front for accessing your tracks and changing volume, an earphone socket and a rechargeable battery.

This is a new product, with no price as yet – but it’s unlikely to sell for more than £20.

Amadana DDA134 70s-style home theatre system

Jap_vintage
A 70s stereo off eBay? Actually no – this is a very modern home theatre system from Japanese firm Amadana – the DDA134.

We love the walnut wood and chrome finish that gives it that 70s look, but more practical buyers might appreciate the progressive scan DVD player, state-of-the-art amplifier and selection of surround sound technology (including Dolby Virtual Speaker technology), not to mention an old-style remote control.

On the downside, this only seems to be available in Japan and it’s also got a fairly high price tag – the equivalent of £775.

While we’re on the subject of Shag, you might like to know that the Shagmart store has just taken delivery of the Shag Tiki salt and pepper set.

And if you’re interested, get in there now – all the tiki-related merchandise always sells through really quick. The shakers, known officially as Pa’Akai and Nioi, are about four inches tall, but as the site helpfully points out, you must provide your own salt and pepper.

Available now, you can pick a set up for $15.95 (around £8).

Shag’s latest print – An Extraordinary Evening

Shag_extraordinary
One for the Shag collectors out there, a new print entitled An Extraordinary Evening.

It’s typical Shag – a cool party in a cool 60s-style house, with a bit of tiki and a couple of cats sneaked in for good measure. The print is a 13-colour serigraph, sized at 19 x 39 inches and limited to 200.

Sure to sell through fast, you can order one now for $295 (around £150).

Rubiks Cube coffee table

Rubiks_cubetable
Yes, you will look like an overgrown child with one in your living room, but we can’t help but love this Rubiks Cube table.

Sadly, it doesn’t seem to twist (no oversized late night fun with your friends), but this acrylic-covered design does make a smart occasional table or coffee table, sized at 16 x 16 x 16 inches.

If you want one, you can order one online for $600 (around £300).

Guitar and amplifier pillow cases

Guitar_pillows
As someone who has recently invested in a vintage-style guitar and a vintage amp (or at least, a secondhand one), I’m very much take with these guitar and amplifier pillow cases.

Actually, they’re officially known as Music Lover Pillowcases, and featuring a Fender Stratocaster guitar and am amp I can’t quite identify. Each is made of a nylon and cotton mix and should fit standard-sized pillows.

You can buy them online from US retailer Modcloth, priced at $24.99 (around £13).
