Tory Burch 60s-style Gilda Dress

Tory_gilda There’s some great retro lines in the current range of US retailer Tory Burch – in fact, their spring range (which is still available) takes just about all of its inspiration from the 60s.

Typical is this Gilda Dress, a slim-fitting and casual polo dress in purple butterly print and silver logo buttons. It’s available now for $225 (around £115). If that’s a bit much, a number of items seem to be marked down in the sale right now, so the site is worth a browse.

They don’t seem to ship outside the US currently, but if anyone knows if they sell these outside the US, please let us know below.

Strand Craft – speed boats with retro looks

Strandcraft

I can spot a retro-styled car a mile off, but a retro boat? Well, if there is such a thing, Sweden’s Strand Craft are the people that make them.

The company specialises in building boats that mix classic styling with modern technology, so you can go fast, but look the part when you come closer into shore. The look takes inspiration from the golden age of the French Riviera, with chrome, lacquered wood and leather finishing in abundance, not to mention vintage-styled dials and controls.

The boat pictured above is just one example – the Bellezza 21, designed by Bo Zolland. The price? Well, they’re not readily available due to the tailor-made nature of the things. But if your numbers on the Lotto have come up, you can get a quote via the website.

Qora & Shai retro-styled canvas art

Qora

You may recall the rather cool 60s-inspired Botanie print by Nanoo Shai we featured at the turn of the year. Well, the retailers of that print – Qora & Shai – have just restocked with a number of new retro-styled canvases.

Three examples of a much larger range are shown here – Absolutie, Rendez-Vous and the two-panelled Noam. All are framed fabric prints on canvas, stretched onto wood frames and ready to hang. They also feature protection against fading.

A number of sizes are available – and as such, prices do vary. But the ones pictured here start at 55 Euros (which is around £37).

Pop art your pet

Popartpet

Seeing as we’ve been on an Andy Warhol tip of late, we might as well give a mention to Pop Art Pets.

Yes, you can have some Warhol-esque artwork featuring your dog, cat, budgie or hamster adorning the living room wall – just like in the above examples. Or if you don’t fancy that, there’s some Lichtenstein-style cartoon imagery available too.

Just send in your photos, then receive a proof back to check over. Once you’re happy, it will be printed on fine art canvas of a size chosen by you (and your budget). For the pop art, prices start at $135 (around £70) for a 12-inch x 12-inch image, rising to $360 (around £180) for a massive 36-inch x 36-inch pet picture.

Aertex Ben Sherman-style shirts

Aertex_shirt We mentioned the Aertex 60s-style polo shirts the other day, but didn’t mention their newly-added selection of Ben Sherman-style shirts.

Obviously these have no affiliation to Ben Sherman past or present, but they do feature 60s detailing and indeed some vintage-style fabrics to make them worth a look for anyone into a look of the period. What isn’t clear is the sizing/cut – you might have to ask a few questions about that.

The design pictured here is called Baxter, using 100% cotton Royal Stuart tartan for a short sleeved shirt with button-down collar and single chest pocket. It retails for £39.99. If that’s not to your taste, there are others to browse on the site.
