Arne Jacobsen Cylinda tableware

Arne_tableware

The word ‘timeless’ is very much overused, especially by Retro To Go! But if there’s one instance where it’s absolutely appropriate, it’s for describing Arne Jacobsen Cylinda tableware.

Check out the pictures of the tea pot and coffee pot above and you’ll see why. This range is now over 40 years old and still looks years ahead of just about anything on the high street – that’s why it’s also found in the collections of numerous design museums too. The look is all about cylindrical shape and that satin-polished stainless steel finish, with each piece having its own characteristics through slight amendments to the design.

Obviously it’s not cheap, but it earns its money by operating as a stylish piece of design to display, as well as being practical for everyday use. And of course, you can build a collection over time. The tea pot and the coffee pot pictured here each retail for £195 each.

A Quarter Of – your favourite childhood sweets

Quarterof Here at Retro To Go, we’re partial to a sweet or two – even better if they’re the ones we remember as children. And that’s exactly what A Quarter Of supply.

The company specialises in just about every sweet or chocolate bar you loved as a child. And in the rare event of not being able to get them, they’ll get someone to make a replica version. From Space Dust to Texan bars and Anglo Bubbly bubblegum, it’s all here – and more.

And if you can’t decide what to get, you can pick up this Wooden Box Of Nostalgia, which, as the name suggests, packs a cross section of schoolyard favourites into a rather smart wooden casket. Enough to keep you grazing for weeks. The large wooden box retails for £32,.47, but you can order just about anything online in even the smallest quantities from the website.

SCP reissues Dreyfuss 500 vintage telephones

Dreyfuss

Everyone seems to be selling re-conditioned BT dial telephones these days, but SCP has something a little more original – reissued Dreyfuss 500 vintage telephones.

The phones were designed, as the name suggests, by industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss – the first of which went into use in 1949. These phones aren’t authentic reissues, they’re a little more useful then that, with updated technology such as push button dialing and auto redial.

You can check out the full range at an SCP shop or stockist, with the two pictured here retailing for £49.95 each.

Bliss By Heather retro messenger bag

Bliss_bag Etsy is always a great site to check out for limited edition and one-off items, including many with a retro theme. And that includes this Bliss By Heather retro messenger bag.

The fabric used looks very familiar, but I can’t quite place it – not unlike the vintage Linda Svensson cloth for sure. The interior of the bag is lined in black and there is a zip pocket to hold your keys and other valuables. The flap of the messenger bag closes with velcro.

If you want one, you can pick one up online, priced at $49, which is around £25.

Paul Frank Rockateen t-shirt

Frank_rockateen I’ve been promising myself a big jazz guitar since I was at school – and the other week, I finally picked one up. So I’m severly tempted by a t-shirt to match – this Paul Frank Rockateen t-shirt.

Yes, this 50s-inspired top features the aformentioned guitar, a couple of leads, an old 45 record and of course, that Paul Frank logo.

Available in this green shade only in small, medium or large, it retails for £25.
