Ex-Boyfriend retro belt buckles

Exboyfriend_buckles

We’ve featured Ex-Boyfriend and its messenger bags previously – now they have some retro belt buckles on the market and worth a look.

There’s a diverse set of designs, including the Space Invaders and Vespa buckles above. Both are original designs, sealed onto a metal buckle with a durable coat of resin. Each buckle is 4.5 inches x 2.5 inches and fits most belts with removable buckles.

They retail for $20 (around £10).

French Connection Sinatra dress

Sinatradress
It’s great to see all the new season clothes hitting the shops, and this Sinatra dress from French Connection is a nice find, and a pleasant move away from the usual FCUK range.

The dress is I presume named after Nancy Sinatra, as it looks like something she may have worn in her 60s heyday, along with those walking boots. But it would also look great in spring 2007 if you fancy emulating some of her style.

The sateen baby doll dress comes in magenta, and has half length sleeves, with puff detail at the elbow. You can buy one for £70.

Tesco’s Modernist Target canvas

Tesco_modernist_1

If you’re on the look out for a canvas for your home, chances are you’ll not be heading for Tesco. But strangely, the supermarket giant has started to sell its own artwork – including this Modernist Target canvas.

Measuring 100cm x 40cm, it’s a brown background with three target-style images. Not sure if it’s particularly modernist, but it’s interesting an eye-catching and should brighten up your room for the £40.97 price tag.

Debenhams 3 colour onion vase

Onionvase
German ceramics of the 60s and 70s are a growing area of collecting, and you may have seen our article on Fat Lava, that tells you all about it. But if you can’t find an original German vase then how about buying this look-a-like, 3 colour onion vase from Debenhams?

It just shows that the 70s look is finally back as a key influence in interior design. This vase has all the characteristics you would expect to find on an original piece: the bright colours, organic shape, and thick dipped layer glaze.

You could just look out for the real thing at a local charity shop (if you are lucky), or you could buy this one and get the look for £15.

Charles & Ray Eames Dot coasters

Dotcoasters
You may have seen the coasters we featured from MOMA with Charles and Ray Eames chairs on, well if you liked those then you’ll probably also like these Dot coasters designed by the couple.

With great 50s style they feature a classic dot pattern in contrasting colours. You get a set of four, and they would grace the table of any modernist home, and are a great way to get some classic design without huge cost.

You can buy them online for only £15, so a lot less than a classic Eames chair.
