Savile Rogue – old-style cashmere football scarf

Savile_rogue

Football scarfs used to items of purpose – big and woolly, keeping you warm on the terraces in the winter. Then clubs started to "personalise" them with team names, dropping the wool for cheaper man-made fibres.

And now we’ve gone full circle with the Savile Rogue, billed as the world’s most luxurious football scarf. The scarves are produced by one of the oldest cashmere mills in Scotland from the finest cashmere wool – and in a colour scheme of virtually all the world’s leading teams.

Featured above are two examples – Bolton Wanderers and West Ham. Each scarf comes in a presentation box and retails for £36.

Keep Calm And Carry On screenprints

Keep_calm

Some months back, we featured the Keep Calm And Carry On poster – an original World War II was discovered in a box of old books by the Barter Books store in Northumberland. When the poster was displayed, it drew a lot if interest – leading to the bookstore selling copies of it.

Well, someone has taken that a step further, producing screenprints of the wartime message in three different shades. The upmarket version is the same size, is offered in peach, pear and plum (instead of the original red). Each two colour screen print is from a numbered edition of 50, hand pulled onto thick 250gsm fine art paper.

They retail for £25 plus £6 postage (wrapped in acid free conservation tissue paper and posted in a durable mailing tube to ensure safe delivery). If that’s a bit rich, Barter Books is still selling their stock of re-print posters for £3.60 each.

Another nice piece of design from Suck UK, this time with the Razorblade Mirror, which, as you can see, is based on the shape of a typical razorblade.

Designed by Phil Sims and ideal for a novelty shaving mirror or just an interesting decoration for your living room wall, it’s even got the name of the most famous razorblade-user of all on the front – Sweeney Todd. No details yet on price or availability, but you can register your interest with the company.
