Short Cross Front Dress by Issa

Issa

Arguably the seventies' most enduring dress style was the wrap dress, a style invented by Diane von Furstenberg that became a lasting wardrobe staple across decades. This Short Cross Front Dress by Issa provides a stylish take on the style, using stylish retro simplicity.

The wrap front section is given a unique flavour thanks to the gathered draping, creating texture and shape without detracting from the elegance of the dress. With the original deep v-neck and a mid-thigh hemline, the bright red shade manages to be vampish without a hint of tacky.

It's available online in the UK for £480 from Matches Fashion.

eBay watch: 1970s Schneider space age portable record player

Sch2

Yes, I know – we feature a lot of portable record players. But that's because they always prove very popular and in many circumstances, they offer up some great period design. This Schneider portable record player certainly doesn't disappoint on that score.

Described by the seller as 'one of the coolest and most desirable' portable players, as as well 'a really rare and hard-to-find object', it's a mains-powered player than spins vinyl at 33, 45 and 78rpm, offers better than expected sound and of course, has those great space age stereo speakers. It's also been featured in L'Utopie du Tout Plastique, the benchmark of cool space age design.

Not only that, it's out of Japan rather than Europe, a great space age 24-hour clock with a cylinder shape and battery power, perfect for a space age-inspired home.

Condition is described as 'excellent vintage' and the price is, right now, a bargain 99p.

eBay watch: 1970s Krups wall clock

Krups

A great, eye-catching design – and this Krups wall clock is still modestly priced, despite some initial interest.

The clock is from the 1970s, with the colour of the plastic described as 'forest green', with a black circular face, a perspex screen and hands on white plastic, with red plastic for the seconds. It also has the original Krups label.

Condition is described as 'very good' and crucially, it's down as being in full working order. £17 is the current price, which seems very reasonable.

Celia Birtwell candy flower apron for Hotpoint

Candy flower
In latest of long line of collaborations for the designer, Celia Birtwell has made a bit of unlikely partnership with Hotpoint to create this candy flower apron.

The apron utilizes one of Birtwell's most recognisable floral textile patterns, teaming it up with her Pop Check design for the aprons strings and trim. There's some pretty touches that make it nicer than the average apron, such as the gathered pocket.

The apron costs £35.
