How does some iconic modernism grab you? If it does, one of the First Sun House in Amersham, Buckinghamshire is just on the market, looking every bit as cool as it did back in 1935.
Regular might recall that this place was up for sale back in 2010. If you missed out then and have come into some money since, you'll be pleased to here that the first and perhaps still the best modern house in the UK is back up for sale – the 1920s Amyas Connell-designed High & Over modernist house in Amersham, Buckinghamshire.
Some years back, I first encountered the modernist High & Over house in Amersham, Bucks on the classic Metro-Land documentary and ever since, I've had a secret yearning to own the property. Well, it's now up for sale. Just a shame about the price tag.
It's an amazing house, the work of Amyas Connell and dating back to 1931, it was the first modernist property to be built in Great Britain. Sadly, it was split into two houses in the early 1960s (before it got listed status), but the current owners have re-united the two parts, as well as restoring High & Over to its former glory.
