eBay watch: Le Corbusier 1959 Liverpool exhibition catalogue

Corbusier

I'll be honest, I was going to keep this quiet and bid myself on it, but the temptation to share this Le Corbusier 1959 Liverpool exhibition catalogue is too much.

It's a fascinating object. According to the seller, an exhibition of the work of the modernist architect and designer (also known as Charles-Édouard Jeanneret) was held in 1959 at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and the Building Centre in London, with this being the illustrated catalogue produced for it, featuring the architecture, paintings, sculpture and tapestries that were featured way back then.

120 pages in A5 format, it's described as being in 'fair used' condition, but there are no tears, marks or missing pages. £4.99 seems like something of a steal if you have an interest in the designer or the city.

eBay watch: 1960s Verner Panton Peacock Chair

Panton

Not a model dating back to the late 60s, but this Verner Panton Peacock Chair is still a sought-after design.

It was designed by Panton back in 1969 and even now, it's a real head-turner. This particular version is the one sold by Habitat for a very short time in the late 1990s. Not cheap then and not cheap to find one now.

Both the metal frame and seven circular cushions are said to be in 'fantastic' condition, which makes the current price of £31.03 something of a steal. Not something you'll see again in a hurry.

eBay watch: 1930s art deco-style table lamp

Deco

According to the seller, it's from the era. If that's the case, this 1930s art deco-style table lamp is quite a bargain as it stands.

It's a black wood and chromed lamp, with its original stepped glass lampshade and an on/off switch at the base. Some minor damage – one chrome disc has minor wear for example – but if it is approaching 80 years old, that's not bad considering.

Right now, bids are at £33, which seems more than fair.

Velvet Cave Vintage – new selection of 1960s dress auctions on eBay

Velvet

The last batch was popular over on our Modculture site in September, so we suspect there will be significant interest in the new Velvet Cave dress auctions both there and on this site.

Velvet Cave is the work of 22-year-old designer Imogen Shurey, making a name for herself with her 60s and early 70s-inspired dresses. New designs are still to come, but for now, check out these sourced vintage dresses.

The one above is just one of a considerable number up for auction on eBay, this one described as a plaid dress, it's in white and blue plaid print polyester with ascot neck tie and made by Leygil, London in the 60s. Size is around 10/12 and the price is £4.99 right now.

eBay watch: 1950s Dansette record player

Dansette

Not a great deal of detail offered about this 1950s Dansette record player, but enough to know it's a very good example for not a lot of money.

According to the seller, the Dansette is in 'first class order' and 'works perfectly'. It also shows no signs of wear both inside and out and comes with the original inspection tab and guarantee medallion on the handle, still fresh over 50 years on.

All of which makes this a steal right now at just £5.

eBay watch: 1960 Ford Popular 100E

Popular

When people talk about 'cute' cars, I'm guessing they means something like this 1960 Ford Popular 100E, which is up for grabs on eBay right now.

Yes, 50 years old and done just 90,000 over that half century, as well as avoiding the need to be welded anywhere. Tax exempt and with an MOT until March 2011, it comes with two sets of keys, a complete record of all work done (and journeys made) and has just had five new tyres, a new exhaust, new battery, new brakes, plugs, points…you get the idea.

It's not mint, but it certainly looks like a very good example. £500 is the current price if you fancy it.
