1950s Sanderson Fifi wallpaper at Wallpaper Direct

Fifi

We have talked about the rich heritage of Sanderson before, more often than not with the Dandelion Clocks design. But the company has other period papers on the market, including the Sanderson Fifi wallpaper range.

A 1950s design from a new 50s-inspired range from the company, the Fifi is available in three colour options, all featuring the same  illustrated design of 'bell shape' girls in colour block dresses repeated throughout. If you've got a midcentury or 50s-inspired home, it's just the thing.

Available at Wallpaper Direct, it sells for £29 per roll, with free samples available on request.

For sale: 1950s-designed modernist Domus house in Burnley, Lancashire

Domus1

If you thought the north in the 1950s was just terraced houses, factory chimneys and whippets, you really need to see this 1950s-designed modernist Domus house in Burnley, Lancashire, one of the finest midcentury houses we've seen on the market for quite some time.

Domus was built to 'specific architectural and modernistic designs' just outside Burnley in 1958 and much of that has been maintained over 50 years on. Check out the wonderful exterior of the huge four-bedroomed property, as well as the original concrete vaulted ceilings, the open living spaces and large glass windows. Plenty to enjoy inside too.

eBay watch: Eero Saarinen-designed Knoll Tulip dining table and four chairs

Arkana

Big thanks to Matthew for spotting a real gem on eBay – this Eero Saarinen-designed Knoll Tulip dining table and four chairs.

Designed as 'as an exercise in clarifying form', the design of the Tulip table and chairs is still ahead of its time, over 50 years since its debut. This is an authentic reissue, with this particular set issued by Knoll to Cube (Manchester's architecture and design gallery) to commemorate its opening in 1998. The item was later acquired by Graeme Russell, its founding director, who is selling it now.

According to the seller, the table (diameter 920mm) is in good condition with a few scratches, while two of the four chairs are in need of some repair, but are perfectly functional. So not perfect, but at the current auction price of £500 for the set, well worth a bid.

eBay watch: Ercol Studio Couch / Sofa Bed

Ercol

Regular readers will recall we featured the Ercol 1950s anniversary Studio Couch range, offering the classic sofa range with some bright new finishes. That range started at £1,685, but this Ercol Studio Couch on eBay is currently going for a lot less.

It's the same design, the work of company founder Lucian Ercolani and originally launched in the late 1950s. This is probably a fairly recent reissue, described as being in 'solid' condition and in 'light elm', with a few marks and scratches from wear. The upholstery may or may not be original.

But saying all that, it looks like a decent option if you want to spend a little time cleaning it up. £36 is the price as I right, with the seller also offering a couple of matching armchairs in a separate auction.
