For sale: 1950s midcentury five-bedroomed house in London SW16

Mid1

An interesting property, not least because this midcentury five-bedroomed property in London SW16 is still very reminiscent of the era it was built. Unfortunately, it is being marketed with 'active planning permission for a complete redevelopment of the site', so it might not be staying that way.

High Waisted Denim Shorts from Boohoo

Rebeccashorts

The weather across Britain may have taken a turn for the decidedly un-Summery, but that's no reason not to snap up some stylishly retro garb while it's on offer. The tight fitting shorts have the ideal silhouette for a fifties pin-up chic, with a longer leg and turn-ups balancing the hip-hugging fit. The key to the vintage-look appeal, however, is the extra high waist, featuring matelot buttons for a hint of nautical fifties flair.

eBay watch: 1950s home cocktail drinks cabinet / bar

Bar

You want kitsch? We got Kitsch. In fact, it doesn't get much more kitschier than this 1950s home cocktail drinks cabinet / bar.

Screaming the era (especially when it comes to the outside design and shape), this period gem opens up, complete with working light, to expose all the accessories you need for knocking up a quick cocktail – two cocktail glasses, six stainless steel olive picks, a stainless steel lemon squeezer and a range of different coloured leaf design rubber coasters still in their original box. Nice. Two sliding doors at the bottom that open to provide space for your bottles too.

No in-depth details of condition, but obviously it will have some wear from the last 50 years or so. Doesn't look bad from the pictures though. Prices isn't bad right now either – just £1.04.

Small but sufficiently roomy, both bags take inspiration from a kitschy 50s pin-up style, with the tattoo inspired embroidery providing an instantly cute retro feel. With each backed by a fifties style print, too, the bags make a stylish little addition to any handbag or travel set.
