Giant Starburst Clock

Starburst-clock-umbra
We have featured a few starburst-style clocks in the past, but this one trumps them all – in terms of size at least.

The Giant Starburst Clock by Umbra is made from moulded wood, with a bronze finish. The hands are in contrasting white.  And the clock’s all important size? 61cm in diameter!

Stylish Living is selling the clock for £117.43 which seems a reasonable price, considering how much clock you get for your money.

eBay watch: 1970s Crayonne Moon space age table lamp

Crayonne

I'll be honest, I don't know much about the design, but I like what I see in this Crayonne Moon table lamp.

Crayonne is the maker and if the cryptic listing reads correctly, it was sold in Habitat in the mid-1970s. Turned off and it's a cool piece of period design, turn it on and you get a rather nice glow.

It's made of white plastic with a chrome strip to the side and is described as being in 'vintage working condition'. Still some time to go, it's currently up for £1.

Umbra Condolisa Side Table – in the shape of a modernist house

Mod_house

One of our more popular recent posts was the Umbra Fishcondo, which was a fish bowl shaped like a modernist house. Well, not only is there a version for your goldfish, but there's a similar design for you to enjoy now, with the Umbra Condolisa Side Table.

As you might have guessed, it's by the same design team of Luong & Cheng, this time offering up a larger version of the modernist-inspired dwelling, as well as a version that has frosted acrylic cut-out windows within the high gloss wooden structure, plus some shelves for your bits and pieces. It also has a removable lid for last-minute hiding of your living room rubbish at short notice.

A new design for 2011 and standing around 48cm tall, it sells for £216.

Milton Storage Unit from Laura Ashley

Milton
If you associate Laura Ashley with country florals and shabby chic, this Milton storage unit will come as as a bit of a surprise. Rather than reflecting those two styles, this has got more of a mid-century look with a contemporary twist.

The unit is made from solid oak and is divided into several compartments, including five drawers and two cupboards, creating plenty of space for storage as well as an unusual looking piece. The retro feel is enhanced by the olive and cream coloured doors to the cupboards and fronts to the drawer.

Some serious storage and a fairly serious price tag attached too. The unit costs £900.

Healsrules
New in at Heal’s is the Heal’s Rules range of home accessories designed by Jeremy Hutchinson.

Inspired by the slogan “Nothing Need Be Ugly” as developed by Ambrose Heal in 1915 for the Design & Industries Association, the collection extends the idea that every home is governed by little rules of etiquette. The range includes ceramics, placemats, cushions, postcards and prints, with related slogans, for example the placemats instruct “Elbows Off the Table” and a teacup and saucer proclaims 'Never Lift the Little Finger'.

Prices range from £4.50 for a breakfast bowl up to £72 for the prints. View the current collection online at Heal’s.

Midcentury-style Montford armchair at Marks & Spencer

Monford1

Not the first place we would consider for some cool, midcentury design, but Marks & Spencer has it with this Montford armchair.

Don't worry about the red colour, there's a seemingly endless range of fabric options, both plain and patterned to go on that curvy frame, which also also has a sloped back and four tapered wooden legs. The chair is also traditionally sprung and has a reversible seat cushion.

Available to order online in that wide range of fabrics, £549 is the price.
