Twinkle Clock by Decoylab

SunburstWe have featured clocks from Decoylab before but we just had to share this one with you.

Unlike the previous Decoylab clocks we've featured, the Twinkle Clock is a bit more grown up. Clearly inspired by the ubiquitous mid-century sunburst clock, the two-layered 'bursts' are made of bamboo, giving it a distinctive stripe pattern and a real vintage feel. A sustainable and stylish addition to any retro room.

The Twinkle Clock is $68 from the Decoylab Etsy store.

Retro mirror from Next

Retro mirror

A seemingly unlikely source of mid-century influenced design, this retro mirror comes from Next.

It's a nice change to see a mirror that looks to the 50s and 60s without resorting to a starburst style design. This mirror has a rectangular frame with a curve to the inside edge of the frame that gives it more of a softer look. The quality of the material reflects its high street origins – it's 'oak effect' but the mirror is pretty good looking nonetheless.

The mirror costs £99.

Shuffle Side Table by Mia Hamborg

Mia_hamborg_shuffle_table_yu9q
This year Heal's celebrates 60 years of bringing us the pioneering Scandinavian design that we've come to love them for. To commemorate, this autumn they're treating us with a whole new brood of designers with concepts firmly rooted in the traditions of the modernist era.

This unique Shuffle Side Table by new Heal's designer Mia Hamborg is a real highlight of the Autumn/Winter collection. The piece is inspired by Nordic wooden turning traditions and is given a contemporary twist with the mid century-style colour palate. However, the most innovative feature is that you can actually take the table apart and rebuild the modular pieces in which ever order you'd like. It's a truly original piece that will no doubt become a modern classic.

The Shuffle Side Table is £449 from Heal's. See the website for more details.

Chelsea Textiles Credenza

Mid097-14v3_1_1
Chelsea Textiles began over twenty years ago with faithful reproductions of 17th and 18th century fabrics, but happily for us, they have expanded their offerings to include midcentury modern inspired furniture such as this Credenza.

It is described handmade, handpainted and made entirely from wood. It measures 73cm high by 96cm wide and is 48 cm deep. Unfortunately, the website doesn’t give a price, which is never a sign of a bargain, but something this beautiful could be worth saving for.

Visit the Chelsea Textile website for contact and ordering details.

Arne Sideboard designed by Robert Cain

Arne sideboard

The Arne Sideboard, designed by Robert Cain, is a contemporary piece in the mid-century style. If the name and its looks hasn't given it away, the design has been inspired by the Danish '50s and '60s designs of Arne Vodder.

That translates to straight lines paired with colourful doors and drawers, although it's made from walnut rather than the rose or teak Vodder would have used. The design is practical too – you can adjust the shelves to get the most suitable storage arrangement for you.

The sideboard costs £624. Not bad when you consider prices for original Vodder sideboards go into the thousands.
