Meyer Prestige Dome Kettle

365903_l
If you liked the Meyer Prestige Toasters mentioned earlier in the week, then the matching kettle might also be of interest.

The Meyer Prestige Dome Kettle ha s a traditional stove-top kettle shape, but is a modern electric kettle with all the features that usual entails. The exterior is decorated with a monochrome check, which is described as art deco, but looks more 60s op art to me.

The kettle costs £54.99 from Leekes.

eBay watch: 1970s Bridget Riley op art catalogue

Riley1

A really excellent publication dating back to 1971 – this Bridget Riley Paintings and Drawings 1951-71 catalogue.

The exhibition in question was at the Hayward Gallery, with that impressive cover and as you'll see over the page, some amazing illustrations from the show.

It's a softback catalogue that's described as being in 'fair' condition, with some cover wear and a gallery address written neatly on back cover. Despite all that, it's a great reference guide for the artist's work and worth the £10 asking price.

60s style Nina dining range at Habitat

Nina platter

The Nina dining range, new in at Habitat, uses bright 60s-style shapes and colours to create an impact.

The bold colours give the dishes a Pop Art flavour, while the 'slinky'-like shape included in the pattern references another key 60s art movement, Op Art. To complete the look, the range is all made from melamine and includes the platter shown above, as well as trays, dishes and even salad servers.

If you like this look, you may want to take a look at Habitat's Evelyn lightshades which use a similar pattern.

Prices start at £2.

Sanderson’s 1960s Concord wallpaper

Sanderson Concord

We've already mentioned, quite a few times, how 2010 is the 150th anniversary of Sanderson. If you missed the exhibition, weren't too enraptured by their cushion designs, how about this 1960s Concord wallpaper, reissued as part of their 'vintage' collection?

Unlike the floral patters often associated with the firm, its converging lines makes it more of an Op-Art design, typical of the 1966 date when it was designed. The version pictured is in red and gold but it also comes in lime and silver or plum and teal.

The paper costs £32 a roll.

Optical Illusion op art-style canvas at Next

Opart

If you are looking for a piece of affordable wall art that screams the 1960s, check out Next, which is currently selling this Optical Illusion canvas.

Yes, very much in the style of Bridget Riley or Victor Vasarely (indeed, it's not a million miles away from Riley's classic Movement in Squares), this is a fraction of the price of either an original or a legitimate print, with the image printed onto a canvas sized at 80 x 80cm.

Available online, you can pick one up for £50.

Missoni Home Bianconero range

Missoni home bianconero

Missoni's distinctive clothes and textiles crop up time and time again on this site but their home products are also well worth a look, especially when the designs are as appealing as the Bianconero range.

The tea set has the bold use of pattern and the retro feel you'd associate with the brand. Each object has a slightly different look: from the Op Art style waves on the coffee pot to the Pop flowers on the mug. The black and white colour scheme helps to unify all the designs.

Prices, as you'd expect from a designer brand, are high. They range from £108.50 for the teapot to £29 for the mug. However, they'll probably look as stylish in another thirty years as they do now, so perhaps you could consider it an investment.
